pampering yourself

Its very important to take care of yourself. For the last 8 months I've been working on losing weight. For some reason (what I eat!) I don't seem to be losing much if at all. Did you know that if a women is moderately overweight in her later years it increases the chances of needing hip replacement surgery when you are geriatric?!? Also as the pound come on and stay on, diabetes becomes more risky too! So more excercise! I tried "retro walking" the other day on the treadmill...what's retro walking? you ask...its walking backwards! Since I live on a fairly busy street I thought doing it at the gym would be safer. However I still got a few weird looks. Now 2 days later i'm still feeling the burn...my calves are killing me!!!!
And when I've work my chubby body out, and spent the week on my feet at work, i like to pamper myself with a well deserved foot massage. It helps also that its dirt cheap! So if you come to visit me, I'll take you to the massage place where I have fallen asleep more than once! Now if only i can find a yoga or pilates class on tuesday nights, I'd be content!

So as the summer months wind down and we sneak into winter, don't hide behind those bulky sweaters....excercise, stretch those muscles, and treat yourself to some relaxation.

Vietnamese lady is greedy..oh well, still don't like her house! We've been to 2 more open houses with his folks, I liked the last one a lot even though it was a mere 4 BLOCKS from his parents' house!!! lol It was very cozy but JZ wasn't a big fan. I think he's still in young adult mode..he wants a big house that he can entertain lots of guests in, hence he likes the huge amount of downstairs space of the Vietnamese lady's house. I'd like something smaller and more managable. On the other hand I stumbled across something prospective:

http://www.resultslady.com/?pth=Properties/OpenHouses&frm=frm&search=true&city=Milpitas)http://www.resultslady.com/?pth=Properties/OpenHouse

its a 4 bd 3ba 3car garage I think, and just over a cool million (damn sillicon valley homes!)
JZ pushed the link to his mom and she replied back "you have expensive taste...when do you want to go see the house?" hahahahah, I find that amusing.
Regardless the house will happen within a year if not less so in the near future when any of you come to visit we'll definetely have a proper guestroom (and a guest bed for my favorite doggy nephew!)

yeahh!!! JZ gots a job, a realz job, a job that pays, a job that has benefits!!! Its corporate but not too corporate...its Yahoo!! JZ came home today from his HR session and a bag-o-swag...the swag wasn't Oscar Nite level but he did get a tshirt, a license plate holder, a sweet pen, and a baseball hat. JZ unfortunately can't wear hats, kinda weird for a big guy but somehow he says his "cheeks" stick out kinda funky. I didn't believe him at first but yep...the hat don't look so slick. So sweet! I gots a slick Yahoo! hat and it aint the cheap-o stuff either!

BBQ this weekend, sad that none of my close friends can make it. JZ doesn't think I have any friends and this BBQ isn't really proving him wrong. What? Does he think I pay all those people to pose in pictures with me from the weddings I've been too this summer?

As for updates on Vietnamese lady's house...good chance it might not happen. Real Estate markets been trending down for sellers and prices are starting to drop or at least there are less offers for the homes out. We went to see a few open houses a few weeks ago with JZ's parents and we went to this new development area. This one single family house with no lot (just a side patio) but it was the largest model home was pretty sweet. It had an entry with a curving staircase and beautiful ironwork..it was like straight out of a sweet Savanna mansion. But the prices are ridiculous and the neighbors would be all FOBs, you know how the traffic would be like....it'd be 99Ranch in your own front yard!
Anyways, JZ's mom is having a blast looking at open houses, so its a definite thing that we'll be living within probable walking distance from them. No biggie as I actually like his folks (for now).  The downside, KZ, JZ's little bro will most likely be living with him, so there goes the luxury of  walking around the house naked!

One more wedding to go!!! woo-hoo...can't help but think that it'll be great to get back into homebody mode.

Performance evaluation this week...got a cost of living raise and merit increase. Boss told me she'll be giving me an extra dollar raise after I pass my CA State Board exam. Yep that's right, a whole BUCK. Isn't life just so rich? (eck)
Well, better than nothin..eh? Got employee of the month for July. Kinda silly I thought cause I felt I hadn't done my best..must've been the 2 and only votes casted, one from Dr. T and the other from Alex whom I told I had voted for him for June. Good thing is that I got a gift cert out of it to any place I liked..so I took Alex's suggestion for this holistic massage place. Gotta make an appt next week for that. Hmm..deep tissue....
Crazy news...JZ's folks found a house they like to buy for him. Its 1/2 mile from their house and its huge! 4 bd/2.5ba, 2 floors, living/dining room, family room, and ginormous sunroom/bonus. Unfortunately the only thing I love about the house is the sunroom and the beautiful cherry wood hardwood floors, everything else is BLAH! or LAME! for example: (the homeowner is Vietnamese for reference) the granite counters look like puke splotches 2inch round on black galaxy pattern, the bathrooms have drop box lights and it feels cramped, the marble tile floors are ostentatiously tan with black diamonds and there's a border of black around the dining area floor like how rugs have a border, there is a marble and greek temple styled fireplace that JZ likes to call "a-la Scarface", the granite tile floor in the master bath has a pattern that when looking down the room looks like worn tred marks with a runner of lighter color, there is no door between the master bath and the bedroom. But from JZ's eyes the only lame thing he sees is the white carpeting upstairs, everything else is minimal. Needless to say he is low on the maintenance ladder while I am high. Oh well, keeping fingers crossed..the asking price is high (but luckily under a Mill...remember this is bay area housing $$$) and JZ's dad won't be interested in paying too much...Vietnamese lady is greeeeeeedddyyyy!
Will update when there is news to report. Signing off..Homebody G.

Updates on life:
Jon has moved in. Next step is desks and computers.
Had an electrician come out and ground the outlets in the office and change the boxes to 3-prong outlets. Main abrasion point so far has been my uncle, the landlord. He starts off expecting me and Jon to take care of house repairs (leaky toilet, busted sprinkler, ungrounded outlets) and this got Jon upset. I see it from his perspective but I also felt like I was in a bind with my uncle. I finally told my uncle that our rent really wasn't very cheap, that it was at market value, and that i'll pay to water the lawn, but the sprinklers I wasn't going to help with. Jon and I had already fixed one small busted pipe, we weren't interested in digging for the other, bigger, busted pipe. I agree with Jon, if this was our own house, then we are improving our own investment. But this house isn't ours, its not even mine.
Otherwise, the house is coming together finally. I've finally put up my remaining shelves and started to put other stuff away and throw out some junk. Next step is to organize the garage!
As for work, I had to ask my supervisor for my health coverage application and I also snuck in a question about a performance evaluation/merit increase. I guess it was wishful thinking that she would just magically give me a raise on my next paycheck!
School might be done but I still need to study for my CA state board exam. Well, first I have to register for it!. Argh..so uch money is going out this month and not much coming in! I bought a new tv stand for the hand me down giant TV from my aunt, I gotta get my car serviced before the trip to LA, dog sitter for Baron while I'm gone, and I've got checks out for vball tournaments!
Ooh, speaking of vball...I had my first session of vball jump camp and my muscles are so fried! its sand court drills..we don't even play. And she said each session gets harder. Its like being back in HS again, the 4 other girls are all freshman and sophmores in HS! and I have to relearn all the proper movements for blocking and hitting! hahaha
And if you haven't seen it already, check out my foster kitty. She's cute! But is a total pain cause I have to stimulate her rear to crap and pee and then the poop just keeps coming! And she's got flea dirt and a few fleas so I'm trying to get her cleaned up.
