Many people have asked me about being a waiter. Many questions have come up, "what do i tip?", "what do you hate the most about being a waiter?", "what's the right thing to say?"...

Well i'm going to answer some questions that you may have...See here's the thing. Many of you might not know that you actually doing something wrong at restaurants. You might not know that you are:
a) obnoxious
b) rude
c) dumb
d) all of the above

Now i'm not saying that you are all like that. For the most part, people are enjoyable, smart, and entertaining. But some of you... o man...

Table Selection

What annoys me the most
:    Here is the most basic thing that happens. You go to the host stand and they seat you. Here's the thing that i hate. When you dont ask, you dont tell anyone, you just get up and move to a table. And what's worse, is that the table is dirty, so you have someone who's probably not a busser have to stop what they are doing and clean a table.

Honorable Mention: People who are incredibly picky on their BOOTHS. They need to have their usual table.

Ordering Your Food

What annoy's me the most: There's actually a couple things that annoy me as a server but the main thing is modifications. Here's the scenerio:
You want a burger...BUT you want no tomato's, no pickles, no red onions, BUT you want grilled onions, the burger comes on a bun...but you don't want a bun... no, you want it on a wheat bun, but wait... no you dont want beef patty but you want grilled chicken instead, and with all that you want fries ... but not regular fries...no, that would be too easy... you want your fries well done too... Oh and i forgot you want a coke with 5 pieces of ice cubes...

Did you really just read all that? i doubt it... u think it's alot to read? try typing and modifying it all on a computer... People come into a restaurant and think that it's their kitchen, that they can have anything they want...No, that's not how it is... I can understand getting a burger with no tomatoes and pickles... you dont have to like everything... but when you're that picky it just gets ridiculous...and this is the hilarious part... if it comes out wrong... people throw a FIT! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?!

My suggestion... be happy with what you get. Find something that you like that you dont have to get that many modifications and get that!

Condiments

Please stop doing this: Ok this one is actually short but here's what you DONT do. So, i check on you, ask if you need anything and you need some Mustard... then bring it... now you need extra napkins...then i bring that... and you need some water... then i bring that... you get the point... When a server comes and asks if you need anything, tell him or her all the things you need, it's okay to ask for more then one thing. I promise you that he will be more grateful if you ask for all of them at the same time then if you ask for them one at a time. They have more then just your table to check up on.

Tipping

Well someone has to talk about this. Tipping is tough because everyone has their own ways. Here's what i recommend when it comes to tipping. 15% is normal. If you can't figure out what 15% of a check is, then just double the tax. I have no problem with that. If you think the server did a good job...tip the extra 5% and go to 20%. When you thing about it, going to 20% isn't that bad... it's only a couple more dollars or so. Remember this...Servers make almost all their money on tips. People are paying bills, going to school, supporting families, and when you stiff them... it sucks. For me, as a server, i wouldnt stiff unless it was REALLY REALLY bad... and i've never stiffed since i've become a server. I'm serious when i say it will take alot for me to stiff someone...

In conclusion... i have brought up some issues when it comes to eating out. But i have one more piece of information. I've dealt with many different people sitting at my tables. But really the worst is when people come to your table and are just mad from the momment they sit down. Don't leave your house if your just going to be rude. I hope that these helpful hints help change the way you dine out.

Mistah's before Sistah...

Everyone is guilty of it...putting the significant other in front of their bro's. It's a sad common tale. What do you do? You've lost your best friend or friend, he can no long kick it, because... he's hanging out with his new gf? What does this sound like? What do you do when this happens? Has this conversation happened to you?

(these are real conversations... names left out)
Craig: Yo... you coming home this weekend right? Let's kick it...
****: I can't...
Craig: WHY?!
****: I'm hanging out with _______.
Craig: I dont like this already...

or how about this...

Craig: hey can you drive me to ______
*****: i cant, i'm going with ______ we need our alone time...
Craig: What the FREAK?!

Now, don't get me wrong. If i had a girlfriend the kick it time would drop. It happens. And I would be a hypocrite if i said i wouldnt abandone my bro's sometimes... but there has to be a line. So here is a few ways to notice if you are breaking the rules...

1. You have seen your best friend's and bro's in over 3 weeks...

Spend some time with them... talk about real stuff, struggles, jokes, what happened to you, etc... trust me....he'll care...this also includes phone calls if he is far from you...IE school or out of town for a long period of time. You can call your bro's ... its nice to hear from them

2. You know you're putting you gf before your bros when you blow them off. You've been planning to all hang out, play ball, chill, and then your friend calls you and says he cant make it because his girlfriend needs him for something.

You are whipped my friend...i think most guys would agree with me... some girls too... that if you become whipped, you have lost all control on the relationship. To a degree, that's part of relationships, who has more control? who says what goes? dont give up the power my fellow men.

3. When you're actually kicking it with the bro's... have you ditched them to talk on the phone with your girl?

You...                                                                    Everyone else....

This has been done so many times...You dont always need to be talking to her... tell her that you will call her back! Yes you get some bro points for actually showing your face, but you lose all points you earn if you just talk to her on the phone all night.

4. When you're hanging out with the guys... it is NOT OK to bring her. Causing it to be 5 dudes and 1 girl. It's not fair to her or the guys.

Her                                      Everyone else (hahaha sorry i just think this pic is hilarious)

It sucks for her, it sucks for the bro's, it sucks for you because you have to split your time between everyone... Dont bring her... when is it ok to bring her? When other guys have brought their gf's. They can get to know eachother, hopefully becoming friends... But when its her and 5 dudes... not cool...

In conclusion...
It's hard, i know, well i dont really know... but i'm sure it's hard to juggle your Mistah's and you're Sistah. But that's wat a relationship is... priorities... you need to make time for both or your definitly losing some points and maybe... some friends... sad but true...
