Well....it's been a long time since I've been on Xanga...too much going on I suspect...plus a few inconveniences (like losing the cord to my camera )...

Anyway...TODAY is a special day. Eleanor Ruth Emis is 3 years old TODAY.

This is a thatched roof building on the grounds of Culzean

This gives a whole new meaning to "family tree"

These are the ruins of Bothwell Castle...I was especially interested in "Bothwell" because there was a Bothwell Hospital, Bothwell Hotel, and Bothwell Lodge in the town where I grew up....

the buildings from my home town were not in such disrepair....

Mike gave Ryan a chance to see what it felt like to drive....oh my...

When we were in Glasgow we went to lunch at TGIFridays...Ellie especially liked the kid play set....

We found this playground at Culzean and everybody had fun....

At Culzean as you walk up the hill and enter through the gateway the sight of the castle is breathtaking.....lots of fun touring inside, but, alas, no pics allowed

...and, of course, Emma enjoyed everything.....

Well, I know it is hard to feel sorry for a person who got to go shopping in Dallas for three days....but...I did get a bit sidetracked on my Ireland/Scotland entries....so here we go....again....

We were driving along looking at this castle from a distance and finally we found it hidden among the trees. It is being renovated to become a hotel. The caretaker let us walk all over the grounds....

This is Culzean (pronounced cul-lane) Castle...a little misty that day so the pics are not so crisp...it is misty ole' Scotland...what did I expect????

Here are a few more shots of Ireland...we forgot to take the camera when we went to visit our friends in Arklow but we did have a lovely time with them.....
These are a just us goofing around in Naas

After three days of jetlag and laughing we boarded our plane and flew to Glasgow, Scotland for a week with Margaret, Ryan, Ellie, and Emma who were flying later that day from Stockholm.
We rented a car and quickly found out that our timeshare location was in "cow and sheep country."

God owns the cattle on a thousand hills and most of them are in the Ayr region of Scotland....

Well, it's a loooong story....so let's begin....

You know how I nag my children when they visit Sweden and don't send me daily updates of their visit....yeah, you know..well I must be more sympathetic from now on.....

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Ireland and Scotland. During one of the weeks Ryan, Margaret, Ellie, and Emma joined us in Scotland.....can we all say it together now......"Fabulous!"..... and it really was just absolutely fabulous.

So....why didn't I send daily updates so my darling family back home could see cherished moments with the grandgirls, etc???? The only internet hook-up around would NOT let me access xanga....can you believe it????

Therefore, I will attempt to relive the saga....probably for my own personal edification as much as anything...here on xanga for a while....maybe a long while....hope you can endure....

We stayed for 3 nights with the McClintocks, friends of ours from our time in Ireland doing Holiday Bible Clubs in the past. We didn't do any sites except for one thing Mike had a "hankerin'" to see.....

***The "K" Club is a rather exclusive golf club that just happened to host the British Open this year (and, no, we did not stay in that hotel or play golf at the "K" Club...are you kidding???--just site-see-ers!)

At this point in our story there are no cute little girls.....however, I thought I should put in at least one picture, just for good measure.
