| Rounding Third and Going HomeWell this summer has been interesting to say the least. I have gone through some things I never thought I would and came out alright. I have learned a lot about people and about myself. I started the summer living with my cousin and his roommates, yep I was living with 3 boys all under the age of 22. That was very interesting. I learned real quick that they don't like to clean and can live pretty much in the dirtiest conditions and still be comfortable. I know girls are cleaner than guys and you all are probably thinking how dirty could it be...well... they would leave dishes locked in their rooms for who knows how long and then come down and put them in the sink. So when I went to do dishes there would be mold growing on them and paper towels stuck to them. I used the kitchen a lot so I had to do the dishes or they would just sit there. Then they had the brilliant idea to save on trash collection by not having the city do it but to have a friend come by every once in a while to pick it up on his truck. Well needless to say the trash never got picked up while I was there for about 2 months. There was a mound of trash on the back porch and trash constantly overflowing in the kitchen. I would try to keep it clean but every time I would take it out there would be even more they would throw away. So the trash built up and there was massive amounts of flies and nats in the house due to their attraction to the litter. I tried to kill them and keep them out with no success. My cousin kept telling me he would take care of the trash. Then we went away for the 4th of July and when I returned and started doing the dishes in the sink...there were maggots. ewwwww. I decided it was about time to find somewhere else to live, oh and we were getting evicted anyway. Yep these have been my adventures in Lexington. That is just the living situation, my job it is quite a pain also. My boss doesn't show up and when he does he has no idea what is going on. He will ask me to do things that I already did and it is his research and his lab. I don't know how he has done it all these years. The stories could go on but I think that is enough for now. The point being that through all I have been going through I learned a lot. God has really shown me a lot. I have been able to play soccer since I have been here and met some really awesome people. On top of that I am really close to some of my favorite people so I am able to visit them. I have seen Justin, Cam, Jenny, Jess, Jessie, Geogie, Michelle, Ashley, Bethany, Brandie, Trevor, Anthony, Daniel, and soon to be Kelley. Yea! With the bad comes the good I have decided. I was visiting Justin this weekend and I ran into Stevie, Caleb Brooks, J-man, and Riddle these people are close to my heart and remind me of the good times I had at Cumberland College. I have really learned this summer that God really does provide, maybe not in the way we were hoping He would but He does. I have learned patience, to not freak out about everything. Oh and I am not going into a field in research....nope, not happening. I have also learned that maybe some things are not what I thought they were. Well I am in the process of finishing my last week of work and my last soccer games for the summer. Oh and the preseason workouts for soccer which I am happy to be finishing. I will get to see my family in about a week and I am excited. Then about another week and back to school for soccer. The summer is winding down and I am ok with that. Hope everyone's summer has been great and I can't wait to see everyone again. Much love.

| The end is in sight.....I have about 3 weeks left of the best job ever...ok I am lying about it being the best job ever but I do only have 3 weeks left. Yea for me. I really don't know how I made it this long. My summer has been really crappy..well except for the family reunion I just had. I am definitely sure things could be worse and God has got my back so I hang in there. This summer has given me time to sit and read which I enjoy. I am reading Blue Like Jazz right now and it is good. I also have been able to play a lot of soccer which has been tons of fun. So I guess you have to take the good with the bad. I found out that I am going to be the proud aunt of a little baby girl in November. That makes me really excited. I have also found out other news from my friends that makes me really happy too. It has been a week of craziness and fun. I only had to work two days this week so that makes it even better. Lots of prayers as I go through my last few weeks of work..please. Hope everyone's summer is going good and I miss everyone. Much luv. | | |
| working away....While at work today I came across the worst smell that my nose has smelt thus far in my lifetime. As some of you know I take care of baby chickens as part of my job...well part of this is also hatching eggs. Well when the eggs have been in the incubator past hatching point we have to take them out so we can make room for more eggs that have the potential to hatch. While I was in the process of pulling out one of the eggs it broke, exposing a dead chicken and all of its fluid inside. Rather nasty and it was everywhere. Once I had gotten over the initial shock of a dead baby chicken the smell started to hit. Oh my, let me just tell you that it is a very potent smell. I have never smelt anything as awful as this. For all of you who haven't figured it out yet this is not one of the perks of the job. Well actually I don't really know of any perks of my job...oh wait money that is about it. So if one day someone approaches you with a once in a lifetime opportunity to work in raising baby chickens and mosquitos, just say no. You all with thank me for this advice later on in life. This post is for those few people left who still read this thing. Hope everyone is doing well. | | |
| Nose to the GrindstoneI am at work right now, totally bored out of my mind. My boss and the other person I work with are gone on vacation till the end of this week. So it has been a rather slow week at work. Since I am waiting for my last hour of the week to wind down so I can go home I figured I would write a xanga post to pass the time. I haven't been up to much just taking care of mosquitos and baby chickens for my job. Then I do my soccer workout, read, and usually then it is about bed time. I do this for about 5 days out of the week, I know I am an exciting one. I am trying to find people to hang out with me. I play on a LYSA team, which is soccer if you didn't know. I play coed and it is challenging but fun. If I can survive the summer with all limbs intact on this team then I think I can do anything. They are rough but it will make me tough.( wow I just rhymed, I really need sleep). The search for a new apartment has hit so many dead ends but I think I might actually have somewhere here soon....pray for me. Not much else has been happening. It has been an alright summer so far, it is nice to not have to worry about school though. I am going to visit Jesse in Williamsburg this weekend, which makes me really excited. Michelle might be there also. Yea for the weekend!!!!! I really don't think you appreciate weekends until you work the entire week and get them off. It is really nice. Well I hope everyone's summer is going great. Miss all the people from school but I will see you all soon enough. Much luv. | | |
