King of the Hill - Season 7

The day before yesterday, I was helping out my grandparents up at their house and lakehouse.  My grandpa's got a low red blood cell count, so he's been too weak to do much of anything around the house.  I helped out by mowing/weedeating, sweeping off the roof, hauling tree limbs, and laying down some new flooring for his boat shed (this man has more jerryboats than I can count).  We took a break to go fishing and had a couple beers, which was alot of fun.  He wrote me a check for $100 and I put it in the bank.

I should really find a summer job soon before the highschoolers get let out and take up all the good positions.  A small local movie chain down the street is desperately seeking employees so I picked up an application and they're doing job interviews tomorrow morning, so I'll go to that.  If that doesnt work out then I'll go around town seeing if any of the dentists need any dental assistants this summer, so I could get some on-the-job training like that.

Yesterday kicked ass.  My new monitor had a dead pixel whenever it had to display the color black so we went back up to Little Rock to get it replaced, which they did but this monitor has a dead pixel point-blank in the center, it's even more annoying because it's dead for all colors.

After that we went to the mall and I got some new shoes for $17.

Yes, I'm blogging about shoes.  I swear, these shoes are the most comfortable pair I've ever put on my feet.  I'd go so far to say they're a hybrid of slippers and running shoes.  I dont even wear socks, these shoes have excellent air circulation, comfort, and ease of use.  I can already tell they're going to break in a month, so that's why I bought a second pair to last me throughout the summer.  I looked on the box to see who made them.... no brand listed, very sketchy.  They were most likely made in some sweatshop in China, thank god for child labor!!

Been hanging out with friends lately.  Rented GTAIV and played that with John for most of the day on Tuesday.  I'm very indifferent about it, I mean it's definately a good game but we saw alot of bugs and the controls are terrible.  I dont care if the physics are more realistic, I liked the way that the GTA games have been up to this point because the aiming system was never frustrating and the cars were never a chore to drive.  So my biggest problems are with the physics and collision detection.

It's almost 3 a.m. here and I'm about to go to Shipley's Donuts to apply for a summer job.  I liked working there, that was my first job (it was a Shipley's Donuts as well as an ice cream shop).  Plus the hours fit my schedule, since I'll be out of there by noon and my summer calculus class goes from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and I'll have the rest of the day to sleep and play.

CoD4 on this 24" high-def monitor is fucking amazing.

I'm excited to be home and I've got so much internet stuff to catch up with, so I'll make this short and sweet.

I'm home in Conway, AR.  I came home last night and unpacked and hung out with some friends.  Today, I slept in and then went to Best Buy in Little Rock and purchased this sweet-ass high def 24" monitor for my computer.  My 17" one broke on me, so I had to upgrade, and I gotta say that this is one hell of an upgrade.  It's so beautiful, I cant stop staring at it, so much screen real estate...

I'm trying to set up a trial for a Final Fantasy 11 game account.  It's an online RPG (think "World of Warcraft" if you're familiar with that) that's been around for about 6 years.  Setting up an account is ASS.  Aside from having to go to GameStop to purchase the $2 trial CD, there is so much shit you have to sign up for and so many terms of service that you have to agree to and then you have to install the client and then update the game and then input your credit card details.  All I want to do is fucking TRY the game, for a FEW DAYS.  I doubt that I'll even stick with it, I hate most online RPG's because I find most of them to be boring and a huge waste of time.

Screw it though.  I'd rather just play CoD4 and get some instant gratification from something that I know that I'll like.

I cant stress how amazing this monitor is.  Pure bliss.  It's so georgeous....

April = awesome

Having finished my final essay, I'm officially done with school.  I've been packing up, getting ready to head out tomorrow.  My mom's flying up here and renting a car to come pick me up, and we're going to drive back with all my stuff.  I gotta say, I took alot of crap up here with me that I never used.  Nesquick?  I mean that shit's useless without milk and a cup and a spoon, and I was always either too lazy to get one of the items or too unmotivated to do dishes.  Besides, they served chocolate milk in the cafeteria, I could always go in there and take 5 or 6 glasses of chocolate milk with me when I went back to my room.  So y'know, just basic stuff like that.

Right now I'm just chillaxing, doing some packing here and there, drinking some Rolling Rock.  Tomorrow before my mom comes here I'll finish up my laundry, throw out the trash/recycling, turn in my library books, and hit up Pinball Pete's for the last time before summer ends.  I did go there tonight, and got about 71000 on Donkey Kong.  That doesnt beat my previous record, which I forgot what it was, but it means that I'm getting better at the game and can hope to see somewhere above 75000 next year.

Seriously, April is the greatest month of '08. At least it is for me, since I've been practically out of school since last week.  But mainly, it's because of all the awesome media that's coming out. Let's take a quick recap.

April 23rd: New episode of South Park
April 24th: New episode of My Name is Earl
April 25th: Harold And Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay comes out in theatres
April 27th: New episode of Family Guy, return from writer's strike
April 28th: New episode of House MD, return from writer's strike
April 29th: GTAIV

This is shaping up to be one hell of a week.

What are you guys looking forward to in the upcoming week?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am officially DONE with final exams!  I've got one more essay to finish up, it's for my (literally) gay english class on a movie about a man who does kickboxing so that he can afford a sex change operation.  It's a pretty good movie, actually, but a little cheesy in a couple of parts.  I've got a week to work on it, so... yeah, I've got some time to waste.

I need to clean up my room, register for classes, go to some office hours to see my final grades, do some laundry, etc.  I should probably make a trip to GameStop either today or tomorrow to pick up Call of Duty 4, and some White Castle burgers sounds good right about now.  I cant wait to crack open a cold one and just chill.  Maybe catch some Pokemon or read a few books while I start working on my summer tan.  That sounds like a good start to my summer.
