I havent blogged in over a week. I had some good things happen, I cant remember them off of the top of my head though. I went and saw the new Harold and Kumar movie, Escape from Guantanamo Bay. It was LOLarious.

I've been trying to find a job, so I turned in my resume to all the local dentist's offices to see if anyone needed a male dentist assistant. Nobody's called yet, of course. Hell, noone wants to hire me. I'll probably end up doing slave labor over at Little Caesar's again. I really wanted to work in a tobacco store this summer. I dont smoke really, but I love the smell and the atmosphere, and they're always independant stores that are tucked away and have exotic imported merchandise that's always fun to look at.

Guys, if you ever EVER come across a Carousel lollipop, dont hesitate to buy it. They're a brand of gourmet lollipops that I cant seem to find anywhere in public. The only way that I've found to be able to buy them are through fundraising stores in bulk. But the place where I bought my new shoes the other day had a few out for sale, and I bought $18 worth of them. These things are huge, and come in all sorts of delicious flavors like Banana Split or Pina Colada or Blueberry Cheesecake or Bubble Gum.

My friend Ben and I are going to jam some this summer. He demonstrated his uber-pwn drum skills tonight, he's like a demi-god on a drumset, it was simply perfect. I can play a little guitar, enough to maybe play a few Misfits songs and get decent at something a little harder. There's a new venue for local bands being built in downtown Conway apparently, we'll have to see about performing there.

I might start taking some yoga or Taekwondo this summer, anyone have enough experience with either of those to formulate an opinion?

Wednesday, May 07, 2008

The day before yesterday, I was helping out my grandparents up at their house and lakehouse. My grandpa's got a low red blood cell count, so he's been too weak to do much of anything around the house. I helped out by mowing/weedeating, sweeping off the roof, hauling tree limbs, and laying down some new flooring for his boat shed (this man has more jerryboats than I can count). We took a break to go fishing and had a couple beers, which was alot of fun. He wrote me a check for $100 and I put it in the bank.

I should really find a summer job soon before the highschoolers get let out and take up all the good positions. A small local movie chain down the street is desperately seeking employees so I picked up an application and they're doing job interviews tomorrow morning, so I'll go to that. If that doesnt work out then I'll go around town seeing if any of the dentists need any dental assistants this summer, so I could get some on-the-job training like that.

Yesterday kicked ass. My new monitor had a dead pixel whenever it had to display the color black so we went back up to Little Rock to get it replaced, which they did but this monitor has a dead pixel point-blank in the center, it's even more annoying because it's dead for all colors.

After that we went to the mall and I got some new shoes for $17.

<IMG style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px; I swear, these shoes are the most comfortable pair I've ever put on my feet. I'd go so far to say they're a hybrid of slippers and running shoes. I dont even wear socks, these shoes have excellent air circulation, comfort, and ease of use. I can already tell they're going to break in a month, so that's why I bought a second pair to last me throughout the summer. I looked on the box to see who made them.... no brand listed, very sketchy. They were most likely made in some sweatshop in China, thank god for child labor!!

Thursday, May 01, 2008

Been hanging out with friends lately. Rented GTAIV and played that with John for most of the day on Tuesday. I'm very indifferent about it, I mean it's definately a good game but we saw alot of bugs and the controls are terrible. I dont care if the physics are more realistic, I liked the way that the GTA games have been up to this point because the aiming system was never frustrating and the cars were never a chore to drive. So my biggest problems are with the physics and collision detection.

It's almost 3 a.m. here and I'm about to go to Shipley's Donuts to apply for a summer job. I liked working there, that was my first job (it was a Shipley's Donuts as well as an ice cream shop). Plus the hours fit my schedule, since I'll be out of there by noon and my summer calculus class goes from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and I'll have the rest of the day to sleep and play.

CoD4 on this 24" high-def monitor is fucking amazing.

Monday, April 28, 2008

I'm excited to be home and I've got so much internet stuff to catch up with, so I'll make this short and sweet.

I'm home in Conway, AR. I came home last night and unpacked and hung out with some friends. Today, I slept in and then went to Best Buy in Little Rock and purchased this sweet-ass high def 24" monitor for my computer. My 17" one broke on me, so I had to upgrade, and I gotta say that this is one hell of an upgrade. It's so beautiful, I cant stop staring at it, so much screen real estate...

I'm trying to set up a trial for a Final Fantasy 11 game account. It's an online RPG (think "World of Warcraft" if you're familiar with that) that's been around for about 6 years. Setting up an account is ASS. Aside from having to go to GameStop to purchase the $2 trial CD, there is so much shit you have to sign up for and so many terms of service that you have to agree to and then you have to install the client and then update the game and then input your credit card details. All I want to do is fucking TRY the game, for a FEW DAYS. I doubt that I'll even stick with it, I hate most online RPG's because I find most of them to be boring and a huge waste of time.

Screw it though. I'd rather just play CoD4 and get some instant gratification from something that I know that I'll like.

I cant stress how amazing this monitor is. Pure bliss. It's so georgeous....

April = awesome

Having finished my final essay, I'm officially done with school. I've been packing up, getting ready to head out tomorrow. My mom's flying up here and renting a car to come pick me up, and we're going to drive back with all my stuff. I gotta say, I took alot of crap up here with me that I never used. Nesquick? I mean that shit's useless without milk and a cup and a spoon, and I was always either too lazy to get one of the items or too unmotivated to do dishes. Besides, they served chocolate milk in the cafeteria, I could always go in there and take 5 or 6 glasses of chocolate milk with me when I went back to my room. So y'know, just basic stuff like that.

Right now I'm just chillaxing, doing some packing here and there, drinking some Rolling Rock. Tomorrow before my mom comes here I'll finish up my laundry, throw out the trash/recycling, turn in my library books, and hit up Pinball Pete's for the last time before summer ends. I did go there tonight, and got about 71000 on Donkey Kong. That doesnt beat my previous record, which I forgot what it was, but it means that I'm getting better at the game and can hope to see somewhere above 75000 next year.

Seriously, April is the greatest month of '08. At least it is for me, since I've been practically out of school since last week. But mainly, it's because of all the awesome media that's coming out. Let's take a quick recap.

April 23rd: New episode of South Park
April 24th: New episode of My Name is Earl
April 25th: Harold And Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay comes out in theatres
April 27th: New episode of Family Guy, return from writer's strike
April 28th: New episode of House MD, return from writer's strike
April 29th: GTAIV

This is shaping up to be one hell of a week.

What are you guys looking forward to in the upcoming week?

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am officially DONE with final exams! I've got one more essay to finish up, it's for my (literally) gay english class on a movie about a man who does kickboxing so that he can afford a sex change operation. It's a pretty good movie, actually, but a little cheesy in a couple of parts. I've got a week to work on it, so... yeah, I've got some time to waste.

I need to clean up my room, register for classes, go to some office hours to see my final grades, do some laundry, etc. I should probably make a trip to GameStop either today or tomorrow to pick up Call of Duty 4, and some White Castle burgers sounds good right about now. I cant wait to crack open a cold one and just chill. Maybe catch some Pokemon or read a few books while I start working on my summer tan. That sounds like a good start to my summer.

Monday, April 14, 2008

I really cant hate Regev, my film GSI. I thought that he was a bad GSI at first, but he's really not. Yes, I do think that the grade that he gave my second paper was a little unfair. But he gave my most recent paper such a high score that it does more than just balance the grade out, it's just plain more than I deserve. I got an A-, he insists that I earned it, I insist that I didnt. And he always answered my emails quickly, and with detail in the answers. At first I felt like he WANTED to fail me, but if anything that D paper scared me into doubling-up my study habits, so I actually appreciate the bad grade. You heard me right. It motivated me to work harder, and if I didnt work harder I wouldnt have passed the class. I still dont know if I passed or not, but as long as I made a 30/100 then according to my math I think that I did.

2 more finals to go, then I'm done. I do have to write 4 more 2-page papers tonight. Tomorrow, Psychology and Chem125. Psych shouldnt be a problem, I can last-minute study for that without a problem because they give us literally everything we need to know, and it's interesting and easy to learn. Chem125, pretty much a lost cause, I'll go over the notes but I cant be as optimistic as I was with Chem130, there is a much slimmer margin that I'll be able to get a C- in the class at this point without doing exceptionally well on the exam and begging my GSI for pity points.

I cant wait to get done so that I can finally play some VIDEOGAMES.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

I've got 2 7 page papers to write, but instead of doing what I should be doing I'm blogging, like the little procrastinating bitch I am. Not true, I am rewatching The Shining for the 3rd time since that's what one of my report's about. This weekend, I've got to write 5 2 page papers for Psychology, and study for the Psychology exam, and go to the Chem 125 review sessions, and study for the Film exam. Thank god for English. Damn, I think all my finals are next week, but I'm too scared to look. I've also got to register for classes.

AFI has an EP coming out, set for release on June 10th. God, why do you torture me with release dates? I cant wait until the EP get leaked. Same thing with the third Windows XP service pack. Supposed to be released second half of 08, but instead of giving a street date they just throw it out there and say "there, go get it". In that case, I WANT a date, so that I can go camp out for it. Patience.....

I am going to hate these next two weeks. Too much to do, not enough time. Summer is so close, yet so far away. I kinda want to stay here because I love the town so much, but I miss all my friends at home, and my bed, and my big mean kittie who bites me really hard. I didnt really make any significant friends this year, I dont think that even half of my hall knows me. My bad. I like the friends that I do have though, it's a matter of quality over quantity, and I cant wait to hang out with Andrew next semester. I think I'll be taking Spanish, Organic Chemistry, and Biology next year. I've got to find some more classes too, but already my course load will be really hard.

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

I need a break.

Thursday, April 03, 2008

Life's been busy lately. All my classes (I only have one) got cancelled yesterday, and it would have been a perfect opportunity to write my Psychology paper that was due today, but I procrastinated as usual. 3 A.M., and I hadnt even started, the paper was due during class from 10-12. I'm fading in and out, so I decide it'd be a good idea to take a 2 hour nap and take 5 hours to finish it, an hour per page. Well I end up sleeping through both of my alarms and am left with 2 hours to write a 5 page paper. But by god, I did it, and I think it turned out to be pretty decent as well.

I've been thinking about when Green Day used to be good. Before American Idiot.... man, those guys freakin rocked. Anyone else remember how good their albums Dookie and Nimrod were? Nimrod is probably in my top 10 albums somewhere. American Idiot was the hardest sell-out that I've ever seen a band take. I think there's, like, one song on there that I like. With Bush Jr. in office, it was easy to make a bunch of shitty angry political anti-American songs to get our rebellious hormonal youth to bite into, hook line and sinker, instant $$. Those are the REAL American-Idiots right there, the people who buy into this crap. What's sad is how blind they are to that simple obvious fact.

I just got finished watching the new two-part My Name is Earl episode, it was amazing. Due to the Writer's Strike, they've only aired maybe one other new episode so far this year, so I've been waiting patiently for this. I still gotta wait till the end of the semester for new House episodes though. Speaking of writer strike, anyone else see the latest episode of South Park? That was amazing as well.

This weekend I've got to write two papers, one for my film class and the rough draft for my 4th English essay. Wish I could have some fun, but my film grade is hellbent on that paper.
