Yesterday's History
25-April-2001. On my way to work, I heard over a small sari-sari store's radio that former president Joseph Estrada is about to be served a warrant for his arrest.
It's saddening, but it had to happen. I logged on to my PC and browsed for breaking news--North Greenhills (where Estrade resides) was jampacked with a mix of his supporters, mediamen, police officials, and trapos hoping for coverage and pogi points.
Well, after spending morning usuals at the office, I spent the rest of the day in Makati Shangri-La, where 3com was holding their end-user training.
I thought, well, this was a repeat! When Edsa II was happening, I was in a Lotus Notes seminar, not mindful of what's going on at Ortigas. And there I was again, this time very mindful (while pretending to be interested at the 3com presenter's presentation) of where Estrada was.
And yes, yesterday was history, for it was the first time a Philippine president was arrested and detained for economic plunder.
