valentines fun

Well Thursday night the wife and I double dated with our 14 yr old daughter and her boyfriend.  The evening didn't start out very well as we were late to the restaurant.  They had given our table away but were able to get us another one fairly quickly.  Michaela had bought a new dress just for the occasion but had decided it was too dressy. She wore the standard fare for her age group, tattered jeans.  Luckily Lucas (the bf) was dressed similarly.  At least I had remembered what day it was and wore my red shirt and tie.
Michaela decided she wanted to order from  the childrens menu.    A simple cheeseburger was what she wanted.  And the crayons and coloring page that was part of the menu.  haha.  The rest of us ordered from the regular menu. The place we went is called the Peppery.  It is known here for its fairly spicy foods. Not everything is really spicy but there is a definite taste to most dishes.  Cindy  got the ribs, I got a pasta primavera and Lucas decided on Jambalaya. Cindy asked me what that was and I told her.  She asked Lucas if there was shrimp in it.  He said no.  Guess he didn't read closely enough.  When he got it he found indeed, two good sized shrimp there.  He treated them like most kids treat broccoli, he put them aside.    We did learn a couple of things about Lucas, he likes his food really spicy and he likes to (or wants to) cook.  He is also very quiet.  I like that in a boy.

I liked the food pretty well and cleaned my plate.  We had deep fried onion strings as an appetizer.  They are soooo good.  Pour on some ranch dressing and oh my!    Except for the after affects that last till sometime the next day.  oops. In all it was not a bad way to spend Valentines day.

Does he not like shrimp or is he allergic?

That's cool that you double dated like that.

I don't know that quiet in a guy is a good thing ???

Sounds like a good day and wowzers, that takes courage to double date w/ your g/f's parents. Glad ya'll had fun.

I rather like the quietness in boys too, of course, the outspoken ones often wear their intentions out in the open, as they usually like telling every aspect of their life.

That's awesome that you guys did that with your daughter and her boyfriend - not a lot of parents care enough to make that effort.
Glad you guys had fun and enjoyed the food!

I expect your daughter objected to having to double date with her parents, but it is a wise thing to do.

I don't even want to guess about the after effects of the onion strips! =) Glad that y'all had a good time! Your daughter might have been acting like countless teenage girls before her who have gone on dates....eat something small and don't order something messy to eat like spaghetti. I ate like a bird when I was first dating. I wasted a lot of nice estaurant visits trying to be petite and feminine. ;)

I don't know, man. My daughter already has boys trying to kiss her and I don't like that at all. I might put something harmful in his Jambalaya when he's in the little boys room...yeesh. I dread the day that my little girl starts dating...

*sigh* They just grow up too fast. Aaron already has a plan for when boys try to date Gwyn, lol. He says she can't until she's in her thirties
