| | road trip day 1Son and I are on a little road trip. We are spending 4 days away from home. We have headed up the state of California to the town of Eureka. We plan to do a little bit of sight seeing, bird watching and.....tomorrow we are meeting one of his friends met on myspace. This will be most interesting. They have chatted on line and written letters to each other. They have been texting too. But tomorrow a first. Face to face meeting. We shall see how this goes.
With this meeting he will be one up on me. I have never met anyone in real life that I know on line. I have chatted on IM with 2 or 3 dozen people I have met here on xanga. I have exchanged e-mail with a slightly smaller group. There is an even smaller group that I have sent text messages to via phone. And believe it or not, I have only actually spoken to one fellow xangan on the phone. Its funny how generally speaking all this electronic communication works out fairly well for me. Its sort of a comfortable way to communicate really. Its not that I haven't wanted to meet people in real life from xanga. I think that would be rather fun. But we are all so spread out that it just isn't really possible. I think there might be 2 or maybe 3 people I regularly (when I am on here much) communicate with who live here in California. And they live in the southern part of the state! A number of hours away.
And I guess for me, I realize that there is something more to look forward to. We have the promise of a world made new and an eternity of time together. If we meet here in this world that is fine but the reality is that if we meet in the world to come there will be no good-byes.
Rev 21:1-6 "I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea. Then I saw New Jerusalem, that holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice shout from the throne: God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. Then the one sitting on the throne said: I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty."
This is the place I want to meet every one of you! |
