A Rose-breasted Grosbeak!

Grosbeak.JPG

I couldn't believe my eyes when I noticed him in our Dogwood tree on Sunday morning.  It's been a few years since I saw one in a tree or feeder in our yard.

Then on Monday morning he came to the feeder at my kitchen window.

He just looked at me, allowing me to take as many photos as I wanted.

I didn't see him today, but then I was in the office most of the time.  Cerwin and I were preparing 14,000 newsletters for the post office.

Those are some great pictures you got!! We have the blue grosbeaks here, but because of the screens in my windows, I can never get a good picture of them. Such lovely birds. I love the way you captured the seeds in his mouth and the debris flying out! :)

Tell him to come visit a little east! So, do you have a feeder attached to the window sill?

Aren't they pretty!  I usually see one about once then they are gone.  Maybe they are just passing through.

@i_was_there_and_back_again - The feeder is hanging on a pole close to the window.

I saw one in our yard for the first time yesterday too! ~ although, it was high in our oak tree and my photos are "iffy".  I then went to a friend's home yesterday to photograph all the beautiful birds that come to her house ~ grosbeaks, orioles and my first chance to photograph a red-headed woodpecker.  And guess what ~ my camera would.not.work!!!  I tried everything ~ something is dreadfully wrong ~ it reverses the focus ~ like it focuses on everything in the background instead of what I am actually trying to focus on!  So, this morning, I am headed for the camera shop to see if its fixable or whether I have to camera shop ~     I was SO frustrated!!

@BluebirdChris - Some years they are only here a day or two - and some years a pair or two stay.  I hope this is a year that they stay.

@fwren - Oh, no - a camera not working is not good news.
