Dad's 60th bday/Parent's 40th Anniversary

Okay, I'm going to try posting videos. We'll see if it works.

Well, last weekend, June 14th to be exact, my siblings and I threw my mom and dad a surprise party. My dad turned 60 on May 12th and they will celebrate their 40th anniversary on July 6th. So, we had to take the opportunity to throw a big bash.

The kids and I went up on Friday. Dad was wondering where Christi, my sister, and I were on Friday night since we were not around much. We were busy running errands and decorating at the church. Saturday I played it cool and stayed around the house while my sister finished things at the church. Jesse came with his mom on Saturday. They came a little early and helped finish set up. I somehow got away from the house with my niece, so we headed over to help. People started arriving around 1:30. I was so excited to see people who I, and my parents, hadn't seen in many years.

My dad's aunt from Vermont was in town with her mom for a few weeks, so she was able to come to the party. I was so excited to see her. My dad has always talked about her, but I had never met her. She is an English Professor at a college in Vermont. My dad always said that I reminded him of her. It was so fun.

Also, some friends of my parents came from NorthPlatte, NE. That is not very far from where we live, but over the years they had lost contact with eachother. It had been probably 15 to 20 years since they had seen eachother.

Well, in order to get my parents to the church we had to be creative. My mom knew that we were throwing a party for my dad, but didn't know it was an anniversary party too. Soooo, I called my dad and said I was driving around and my van started acting funny and that I was at the church. I told him my engine light was on, which was true, but I knew it was nothing serious.

They finally showed up at the church and walked through the door as we sang Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to them. They were both surprised. We took pics and then showed them the slideshow I had put together for them, with the help of my sister-in-law (she sent many pics since I couldn't find my photo albums).

So, here are the videos I made. The first is the slideshow of my parents. The second is the pictures of the party.

Thunderstorm

I thought I'd share my pictures I took today of our thunderstorm. I thought they were really pretty. However, I have to tell you I was a little scared when I was taking them. We were under a tornado warning. Some of the clouds were really swirling around, but we never had a tornado form. Enjoy!

Plainview Graduation

I thought I'd share with all of you the excitement of our little town. We had graduation on Saturday and had one Senior. Yes, you heard me right. ONE Senior graduated!! I guess, it's tradition for the Seniors to choose which school board member they want to present their diploma. I was honored when Alex, the Senior, asked me a couple weeks ago if I would present her diploma. So, Saturday I handed our ONE senior her diploma.

Well, having just one Senior became such a big deal that the Rocky Mountain Newspaper came from Denver to cover it. The writer did a beautiful job describing our community and the graduation itself. Here is a link so you can read the article. There is also a slideshow from the graduation. Enjoy!!

Update

Hola! I doubt anyone really reads this anymore, especially since I don't update it very often. Anyway, I'll update the maybe one person that might read this.

Today was Japheth's last day of school. I think he's excited until he gets sick of the girls bothering him all the time. I imagine that will have within the next two weeks, maybe sooner.

We haven't moved yet. Our house is here, but has not been set yet. Hopefully, that will happen in the next week or so. The electricity was put up last week. Then they will have to put in the septic, natural gas, water meter....I think that is it, after the house is set. I'm hoping we will get to move in the next couple of weeks.

Besides that, I'm looking forward to getting away the end of this month with Jesse, NO kids. Our 10th anniversary is this Friday, so we are going to go to Colorado Springs for the weekend. We are going to a day spa and getting massages, facial, our hair cut and other things. Just a nice relaxing time. Then we will go to a Sky Sox game. I'm soooooooo looking forward to it!!!!

I'm staying busy getting ready for VBS, which will be the first week in June. I'm directing the skit and doing recreation! I'm a little nervous about the Rec part. Anyway, it should be a great week. Well, I will leave with some pics of the kids. Enjoy!
