| I am sitting in Ket Rec, doing homework. A guy walks by. He looks about 19. His hair is a mess, parted to the side, greasy, with speckles of white dandruff. He walks with an awkward stride, appearing to walk purposefully, but probably more so to avoid any potential contact with another person. He shifts his head nervously, surveying the area, as if to catch a glimpse of something he wants information about, but doesn't want to confront. His well-worn black cotton shirt has a large anime warrior drawn on the front. There is a light brown stain on the sleeve, and it is obvious that his dandruff doesn't stay in his hair.
"An engineer," I think to myself. "He probably has no social skills. Homeschooled, I bet. I'd be surprised if there is a single girl he knows on campus. He probably spends his time dominating others in video games, and bragging foolishly about his accomplishments in RPGs." My thoughts continue, but I really am not aware of them. "Poor guy. And what a sad life. Does he even have a purpose for existence? Is there a single soul that cares about him? I certainly don't. Why would I want to even associate with this guy? My time and other relationships are much more valuable. At least I try to make something of my life. Does this guy deserve anything?"...
Whoa. I'm sorry Lord. I'm so sorry.
How contemptible and grossly inadequate it is to judge a man by external observations.
"Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." |

| Oh man, great stuff from My Utmost For His Highest for yesterday (Aug 13)...
"Beware if in personal testimony you have to hark back and say --"Once, so many years ago, I was saved." If you are walking in the light, there is no harking back, the past is transfused into the present wonder of communion with God. If you get out of the light you become a sentimental Christian and live on memories, your testimony has a hard, metallic note. Beware of trying to patch up a present refusal to walk in the light by recalling past experiences when you did walk in the light. Whenever the Spirit checks, call a halt and get the thing right, or you will go on grieving Him without knowing it."
Every single day should include an addition to your testimony.
"What did today add to your testimony or your witness?" |
