GREAT Dallas Korean Food

Unlike my brother, I'm not usually too excited about going out to eat Korean food.  It's not that almost all the Korean places we go to are BAD, it's just that, having grown up in a family that dislikes going out to eat, I'm very accustomed to my mom's cooking.  This combined with the fact that I'm a pretty picky eater.. well, I just don't get too enthusiastic about non-mom Korean food.  I might have a favorite Thai, Indian, Japanese, Vietnamese, or Southwestern food restaurant, but if anyone were to ask me where to go for Korean food.. well.. .I suppose I could tell you where my parents live...

So when my parents wanted me to meet up with them at this new Korean restaurant, I told them it'd be a waste of money for me (plus, I'd never be able to find it... Harry Hines is a mystery to me).  They went without me, but we ended up going together a few weeks later. It was SO GOOD.  SOOO GOOOD!!!  It's called "LA Traditional Korean Beef Soup" or something very close to that, and all it sells is beef soup.  I usually get the brisket sol-lung-tang (okay, that's just me sounding it out in my head, I'm sure it's a little inaccurate).  It comes out without salt or spicyness- they have it on the table and you can add that yourself to taste.  And add as much green onion as you'd like (my dad: half the huge container).  The soup is really rich (but not creamy like a potato soup or anything) and VERY flavorful, and the brisket is very lean but still tender.  They serve it with kimchi and rice.  You can put the rice in the soup to make it more filling (altho it does have some noodles in it- not a lot), or leave it out if you're watching your carbs.  I couldn't tell you how to get there unfortunately, but it IS across the street from Komart.  Actually, it's a little diagonal- a little further from the highway (which highway? uh... Stemmons? .... maybe?).   I'm drooling right now.  My parents were kind enough to get some to go for me to take down to Houston with me, but I forgot the salt and red sauce in Dallas . 

So there you go- if you're in Dallas and looking for a Korean beef soup restaurant.. that's my recommendation!

I'm FREAKIN PISSED OFF

If you EVER EVER need a logo done... NEVER EVER use Logo-Mojo!  They TOTALLY RIPPED OFF MY DESIGN (it's actually mine and Judy Ko's for Treebirds, my parents' restaurant) and tried to pass it off as their own!!

So after they sent us these pathetic ideas, I took over the design and even asked for feedback right here on my xanga!  The entry is still up- dated and everything. 

They said that they'd remove the logo by tomorrow.  We'll see.

This is where my heart starts picking up its beat.  Milestones to get through:  Friday, Monday, Wednesday, and finally... FINALLY... May 18th.  On that great day, ladies and gents, I'll be magically transformed into Dr. Bang.  .... IF I survive Friday, Monday, and Wednesday.

Wow, I had no idea that smiley face was so old!  Just 6 months younger than me! haha... and born at Carnegie Mellon!  I can still remember how I was first introduced to the smileys.... Mr (Dr?) Kim, who I went to briefly for programming lessons.  I was so impressed.  Yes, at one point in my life I took programming lessons.  Shocking.

edit:  Darn xanga keeps automatically switching the smiley into an image!!  Well, it's : - ) without the spaces between, but you guys know what I mean.

How old are you now?

No, it's not my birthday.  But somehow I get the sneaking suspicion that my appearance has unfortunately found a way to speed through a few years.  It all started with getting "ma'am"ed and "the lady"ed in Boston.  That's not really too bad, I guess.  But then when Teresa saw my UTMB ID, she started cracking up and said that I look like I'm in my THIRTIES!!  Good grief!  In my defense, UTMB for some reason smushes your face vertically and I had just had a terrible haircut.  So that's what I blamed it on.  THEN, today at work.... Andy, a pharmacist who used to partner with one of the pharmacists I work under, came by for lunch.  Somehow the conversation got to kids and family pictures, and he turns to me and says, "So how many kids do you have?"  How MANY?!  Not even... do you have kids, but how MANY!??!  How old do I freakin' look?!?!  

..... no, I'm not purposefully trying to influence you with silly pictures......
