  •  Well, I do not even remember the last time I was on this thing. My dear friend Ellen was wondering if my sis was still pregnant since the same pic had been up for forever, so I figured I'd update. My sister had her baby on October 18. She is a beautiful, healthy baby girl, Audrey. My sister went through alot of pain having her, though and ended up having pancreatitus which caused her to be in the hospital for a month. She is finally recovering and is gratefully doing much better

I have been through student teaching both in IN and Lima, Peru now. It was a tough experience, but well worth it. I especially enjoyed my time in Lima. I didnt want to leave! I am glad to be back here at Grace. I love my friends.

  • There's a pic of my very pregnant sister and I. She came up to see me for my bday which was awesome cuz i hadnt seen her for a couple months and she got sooo big! We were spontaneous and went to Chinatown in NYC without knowing all the details about how we would get there....Thats a big step for two extreme planners to take towards spontaneity let me tell you.

My good friend Elise moved to Seattle and I probably wont see her again unless I move to Brasil..which is not as improbale as you may think. I want to move in Sao Paulo and live with her and her mom for 6 months. I would get a job teaching ESL and/or Spanish. Im planning an AMAZING trip around half of South America if anyone is interested in joining Amy McIlwain and I. It will begin in Venezuela and end in Sao Paulo.

I have one week left here then back to good old WL. Im so excited to see friends from Grace! Connecticuts been great but Im ready to leave. One week and counting...

  • Nothing all that exciting has been going here. Its been good though. Work is going..A lil slow. I still do not know how much they really expect of my "internship." My boss doesnt seem to want me to do any big parts of this project and is giving me smaller things to do..although im the only one working on it. Jennifer, a woman I work with, has been an encouragement helping me think up some big plans- new webpage on diversity, portal for all CT hospitals to access translated documents, a press conference, public services announcements, and more. Right now Im working on cultural fact sheets for the top 20 or so cultures represented in CT. ts been really interesting. I came across a saying the other day that I thought was cool:

Kolik jazyku znas, tolikrat jsi clovekem.

"This Czech proverb, impossible to translate, proclaims that you live a new life for every new language you speak. If you know only one language, you live only once (Words without Borders)."
