  • Leading a much simpler life...

Although my kids don't quite buy into it, and perhaps my husband doesn't as much as I, I am really enjoying the simpler way of life at camp.   Too bad there is only another week of it left.       I have not missed watching TV.   I haven't really missed the Internet (I haven't been on nearly as much as I used to be.)  I haven't missed traffic, or shopping, or even driving.    I had even wondered if WalMart could deliver, if I just emailed them what I needed.

But on the other hand, my husband needs Diet Coke.  And McDonald's.   He doesn't like the quiet atmosphere or sitting still.   So, I'm sure he will be happy when we move back into town and leave the cows behind.

    I love the cows too.

    Grace and peace.

  • My Kids Spent HOW Much at the Country Store?????

Ah...  the things I didn't think I would already be saying at camp....

"No... wait...  I can't move!  I just got a good signal on my cell and don't want to drop this call!"

"My kids have been doing WHAT at the Country Store?  They have spent HOW MUCH?"

"Aaahh... it's just a bug bite.   Take some benedryl and go to bed.  You'll be better in the morning."    (His dad took him to the doctor anyway.     We'll see how that one turns out....

We've also already been woken up at 3am because someone needed to go to the hospital...  okay, well, James woke up.  I didn't hear anything.   But it was a good thing he did because it could have been really bad had the person NOT gone to the hospital.

Camp life is great.   We get the butt-end of it, so the staff is getting tired and a wee bit cranky, so we have 'issues' at times, but in the end, I think we're all okay.  We only have one more full day of camp this week and then we have a long weekend...  then we only have a full week of camp next week and camp is over.      Life will then be different.  Again.   And we get to finish unpacking out house in town.  Since we haven't done that yet.

Good night!  Sleep tight!  Don't let the bed bugs bite!

    Grace and peace.

  • Music Camp is over!

    Wow.

    Wow.

Last night we had our ElectFest....    it was so GOOD!  God must have been in the preparations for it because it ended with an altar call that went on for a LONG time - and my hubby says that he didn't even plan to have it.   All I can say is - it was AMAZING.

This morning we had our final concert.  I'm glad it's over, but I do have to say that it did seem to go well.

I am tired and hungry.  And I need to check my mail - in town...   =)

Catch y'all later!!    I am drained!

    Grace and peace.

  • Music Camp!

    We have been SO busy!

We are in the middle of Music Camp - our long camp of the summer.   I can tell that we are all getting tired...   my family, the staff, the officers, the lay leaders...  but I know that we will make it thru!  (I just got word that three campers are going home...  homesick!)    Somedays I forget what day it is - it's Wednesday, right?   And often I am in bed after 11pm (which was actually normal in Indy, but for some reason, seems late here!), but we are doing well.   The kids were all a bit 'homesick' last night (Grace and James are campers) so they came home to stay in their beds, but they are all happy again today.   I have caught a bit of some bug...  don't know if it is allergies or sinuses, but thankfully I had a stock of Advil Cold and Sinus in my Bathroom box that I will not unpack for a few more weeks yet.   Life is good.

    Some pictures....

    RE Summer 08 076

Last night was a Variety Show.   Grace participated with her cousin, Lauren, with the song "Popular" from the musical Wicked.   I thought she was quite cute GREEN.

    RE Summer 08 087

Lauren did a fantastic job.   She was so cute.

    RE Summer 08 125

Tonight was the Solo Competition.   I had no idea that Jamesy made it to the top three!  I was so proud of him!  I didn't think he would be brave enough to do it, but he definitely proved me wrong.  He did a great job.

    RE Summer 08 107

Lily has been having a lot of fun.  She is very popular with the campers and the staff, so much so that they ask where she is when she is not with me.   For me, the schedule is great...   she used to stay up so late and not want to go to sleep... now, when we are done with devotions, she is so tired, she goes right to bed!   My girl, who loved staying up well past 11pm, now falls right to sleep, before 11pm.   Thank the Lord!  (She is still a bear to get out of bed in the morning tho!!)

    Summer 08 001

Noah is the man.   He is also very popular with everyone.   This picture is from before we moved and it is hilarious.   He put the thing on his mouth, not knowing what it was....    It's the plastic sticky piece that comes out of a bathing suit.. from you know where!  LOL.   Hilarious!

So.. off I go.   Issues that need to be dealt with!   Happy happy joy joy!!

  • What a week!

We have been having a great time at camp...   Friday was such a relaxing day - I loved the peace and quiet of the camp.

Our camp staff is awesome!  They are so much fun to work with and hang out with...   it'll be sad when camp is over.

On the Fourth, we were invited to go on the Spirit of Peoria - a paddle boat on the Illinois River - where we ate dinner, then sat and watched the fireworks.   We had the best seats in the house!

    Picture time!

    RE Summer 08 053

Lily was being silly... and she didn't really want her picture taken!

    RE Summer 08 063

This was the barge that had the fireworks on it....  as you can see, we were close!

    RE Summer 08 066

    Some of the pretty fireworks...

    RESummer 08 073

    And some more....

Lily was freaked out by the whole thing - she sat on James' or my lap the whole time, hiding under a coat.   Maybe someday she'll appreciate the beauty.

I hope you are all doing well.  Music Camp started today and so far, it's been wonderful!

    Grace and peace.
