thanks to the replay ability of Dad's DVR, we got to laugh at Bob Clausen's screw-up on the ch. 4 six o'clock news over and over and over.  the screw up being him talking about hurricane katrina victims and saying," ...picking up the penis--er, pieces..."  oh my GOD, it was funny.  please tell me someone else saw it.

ok, so i know that it's been an eternity since i've last posted, so to make up for it, i will include pictures.  yay for pictures!!  finals are OVER, thank God.  having five of them in a row can really take it out of a person.  but i think i pulled out alright, which is good.  and now it is finally winter break.  SO great.

sethimus has been down in LR since tuesday night, so it's been lots of fun having him here.  we baked--correction, HE baked, while i watched and then later fell asleep-- some bread, rolls, and orange rolls.  VERY yummy.  this man can definitely work it in the kitchen--as well as other places in my apartment, but we won't get into that.   needless to say, i was thoroughly impressed with his bread-making skills.  here are some pictures of the final product.

and then on friday night, my 1st year pharmacy class had a joint party at the hampton with the 1st year medical school class.  it was an 80's theme party, so seth and i were decked out in some pretty awesome 80's gear.  or should i say, 'totally rad' 80's gear. yeah...

seth decided to go for the don johnson from miami vice look.  unfortunately you can't see the rest of his outfit, but he had a gun and handcuffs too.

inside the lobby at hampton...

...and then outside the hotel in the parking lot.   fun times, fun times.

so i'm supposed to have my ear surgery on wednesday.  the damn cyst keeps on flaring up, and the doc can't operate on it until it's calmed down.  he's got me on the motherload of all antibiotics right now, so it better be ok by wednesday, or there's no hope.  well, not really, but that sounded good.  but nevertheless, this thing has giving me more than a handfull of problems this semester, and i'm ready to get it removed.

well, the timer's going off for my chocolate chip pumpkin bread, so i'll end this post now.  hope that break is going well for everyone!

I gave myself a shot today.  it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it would be.  my sister's doing a diabetes rotation right now, and one of her assignments is to live one week as a diabetic.  that means she has to take her blood glucose multiple times a day and give herself saline injections (in place of insulin since she's really not a diabetic) before every meal. so her boyfriend and i tried it today too.  oh the fun stuff that pharmacy students get to do.

i'm going to a student pharmacists regional conference in kansas city thursday-sunday.  the actual meetings only last a few hours during the day.  the rest of the time we have to ourselves. and plus, we're leaving a day early so we can shop and sight-see.  i've never been to kansas city before, so advice and suggestions as to what's fun to do there would be nice.

we drove by shorty small's the other day, and my dad thought it was a clothing store.  he was like, "you know, like big & tall?"

who's going up to fayetteville this friday?  i am! i am!!

i just got done eating some pizza compliments of the pharmacist who lives next door.  this guy is always coming around asking if we need anything.  like, the other day, he came by to see if we needed any trash taken out b/c he was on the way to the dumpster.  we couldn't decide if he was crossing the line from being really nice to kind of creepy, but then we realized that he's the district manager for fred's pharmacy, and we are 3 future pharmacists.  which draws us to the conclusion that he's probably trying to hook us into working for fred's.  like, he wants to take us all out to dinner downtown at some ritzy restaurant.  which is awesome, but i can't help but feel just a little guilty for accepting all of his generosity when i really have no desire--well as of now, at least--for working at fred's as my permanent job in the future.  especially if i decided to go clinical.  oh well, who am i to turn down free food, right?  like really, it's just not in my nature.

sooo.... we had our first intermural flag football game last sunday.  and i am proud to say that all my teeth are still intact.  and we won too!  and thank you seth for giving us the winning play.

the other day in class, our korean pharmaceutics professor asked us this: "which would feel better:  if you put sugar solution or water in eye?"  he was trying to make a point about isotonicity, which made sense in the end, but he really has a knack for using some really random references and analogies.  like another thing was about how the way laundry detergent works is like how you should fend off a bear when camping.  like, .  and our hispanic biochem professor was telling us about how "you young people have such good sex drive with your bodies saying, 'yes! yes! yes!', but your mind telling you, 'no! no! no!' but some of your bodies still doing, 'yes! yes! yes!'".  oh, it was great.  foreign people are just so innocently funny sometimes...
