Lost Worlds: What Have We Lost, & Where Did it Go?

That book at the top of the post, is the one I am currently reading, hence, currently reading: . I strongly recommend it to anyone who take interest in rejecting today's society or like to enjoy random musings of a whimsical man. I like it. Especially the dodo on the cover.

Lost World is a taxonomy about things we have lost, or will. One phrase caught my attention, mundus senescit: the world ages. If the world grows old, so does the people. And wisdom comes with age. The human race must be at least 3000 years old(rough guess only). Yet we don't seem be any wiser. On the contrary, the ancients(Greek philosophers, Roman poets) seem to be wiser than us, seeing as they probably figured out the secrets of the world. True, we may be knowledgable with our fancy technology(the internet) and the all-powerful encycleopedia of everythingyouneedtoknowtolive, but we are less aware of life itself. Unlike our predecestors, today's people do not have time to sit on marble benches and ponder about the world in a fashionable yet uncomfortable posture. Or maybe it is because people don't want to think about why we are here. It frightens them.

If we approach this backwards, the older the wiser concept, the older they are to us, the wiser. That way, it all makes sense. Another explanation is, that people are wiser, but so wise, they do not like to display their wisdom.

(EDIT: I just thought of another explanation to this reversed scenario, and it is that the ancients were not so wise, merely that we the current generations of this century are less wise. Stupidity(or ignorance) makes the less stupid(ignorant) appear wise.)

Medieval is not ancient, but still old.

Another depression phase over. Another to come. Anime helps ease the boredom. This is my first sickness in n months, and it has lasted a week. While not exactly terminal, I have been cursed with naval voice and bad throat since Sunday. Fun summer.

Today consisted of gazing into space wistfully, reading impatiently and sketching rather badly. Throughout the day I was constantly wondering "god what a waste of time". I am atheist.

This is my room, size almost equivalent to the bathroom. I like my display cabinet and I like cats. I was once a Fellow Kitty.
