A Wonderful Birthday

My hubby and my family and the Lord blessed me with such a special birthday week. I just had to share it with you all. So here are some pictures to tell the story…

First Chris kept the secret for MONTHS and then surprised me with a weekend trip to Nacogdoches, TX to Stag Leap - a place with peaceful, secluded, and oh so restful cottages in the woods. It was fabulous! The cottage was beautifully decorated with a cottage, country, Tuscan sort of look. It had little kitchen and a nice deck and a golf cart for riding around in the woods.

This is what it looked like on the inside:

Savannah wanted to drive the golf cart, but she’ll have to wait quite a few years. :)

My dear little family on the deck:

Secondly, on my birthday, I was taking a nap when I was startled awake by, of all people, my parents! They surprised me by coming a few days early for their weekend visit! It was a great way to wake up from a nap. :) That night, Dad treated us to Olive Garden, and then we came home and had a little party.

I had a pink and brown cake, and blew out the candles praying that my children would love the Lord all the days of their lives!

And, thank you dear friends for the gifts and all the notes you sent by phone, mail, email and facebook! I loved them all! Here’s a little collage of the gifts:

The Lord put the cherry on top with a good snow today! I guess you saw the previous post with that picture, but just so you can see my house, here’s a picture of our home in the snow and a funny one of Savannah all bundled up in next winter’s coat:

This has been a wonderful birthday! Is it just me, or do they keep getting better every year? :)

I’ll end with a thought… You all know that the Lord is preparing a mansion for us in heaven. YAY! Well, do we each get our own mansion or is there one big one for everybody? I always thought there was one for each believer. But, I can’t imagine living in a big mansion for eternity without family living in it with me. Can you? I mean, who wants a big house just to themselves anyway? So, I’m beginning to hope that the mansions of heaven are not in any way like the ones here on earth, but rather are so big that they encompass our family in Christ living together in perfect love and worship to God… I think that would be great. Oh, and I wouldn’t mind sharing a room either. :)

It's Snowing In Big Sandy, Texas!

It's snowing! And, if you don't already know, Catherine LOVES snow. Just thought you all would like to rejoice with me. :)

Savannah Smiles…

Posted from www.chrislovescatherine.com

Well, We have seen fleeting glimpses of it…too fleeting…until now. We finally have captured it on film with the help of our good friend Melanie Bogner. She came and took lots of pictures this weekend, and so I will post a few of them here.

Isn’t she absolutely adorable!!!! The smile on my lovely wife’s face was equal to that of Savannah’s smile. I was mowing the grass last weekend, and Catherine came outside with eyes twinkling, and a lovely smile on her face as she said “Guess what? Savannah smiled!” Well, she has been smiling more often now, and we finally caught it on film to share with all of you! We can say that God gave us these pictures to share with you. While we were taking the pictures, Catherine prayed that God would cause little Savannah to give us a pretty smile, and He did! What makes it so special is that Savannah was a little bit hard to work with during the photo shoot, and then WOW, there was that ‘gorgamous’ smile. And she did it again when I was holding her…

Well, that’s all for now. Sorry if the email is big from all the pictures. I have many more to post, but we will save those for another time. May God bless you all. Have a great week!

In Honor of Savannah’s GREAT Uncle!

The beginning of this post is to honor my dear Uncle Marvin. He is my dad’s older brother, and I love him and miss him. He went home to be with our dear Saviour in July 2004. One of the things I would have loved to do is place little Savannah in his arms and let him share some of his wisdom with her. My uncle impacted my life in a big way during the 8 months that I lived in Tallahassee with him. I know he would have loved this picture. This is for you Kim M. and all those at FSU that loved my Uncle, keep his memory alive, and still keep in touch with the Overby’s. The cap is authentic Uncle Marvin (one that he actually wore).

Dad and Mom are here visiting this weekend, and we are sure enjoying the fellowship. Dawn and Kevin are going to be here on Sunday, and we will get to meet my niece Roxie Rochelle Meyer. I am sure looking forward to that. Here is a picture of our cute little niece.

Dad and I went fishing this evening and we caught a mess of fish. Dad out fished me this time…probably won’t be the last time either. Much of what I learned about fishing, I learned from my Dad, but he still can out fish me even on a bad day. One thing about it though…he doesn’t rub it in as much as he used to, because I think he likes holding his new granddaughter!

img_1808.JPG

We worked on my boat motor some today and in the process discovered something new…a “redneck wave runner” (bet you can’t do THIS with a four wheeler!)

img_1892.jpg

have pictures of me and Savannah on this contraption, but I decided it looked like I was really taking her for a ride, and I didn’t want to hear about it later… instead here is a picture of me keeping out of trouble..

img_1875.jpg

Mom also is getting her share of baby time…in fact, if the baby starts to cry and is not in somebody’s arms, Grandma will come a runnin!

img_1889.jpg

Well, that is all for now at the Overby’s. I probably will be posting again soon with more pictures from this weekend. Catherine is doing well, but tired. Please pray for a speedy recovery for her…she is still recovering, and it is increasingly hard for her to “take it easy and get lots of rest.” Right now she never gets more than three to five hours of uninterrupted sleep. I have been calling her my wonder woman here lately. She is really incredible! I love her so much and I am so proud of her!

The life and times of Savannah Overby

Well, our little Savannah continues to amaze us. She is growing so fast, and Catherine and I could just sit and look at her for hours. She is the most beautiful little baby, and we are just amazed that God gave her to us! Sarah has been making time to take pictures. Some of these just barely capture the absolute cuteness of our little girl. Also, our good friend Josh set up email subscriptions for our site www.chrislovescatherine.com, so now you can subscribe, and you will be notified of any new posts, so please subscribe…we want to show off our little girl!

Now that is a thoughtful look…I wonder what you are thinking Savannah?

Her Grandpa Perkins loves her very very much!

img_1862.jpg

Oops…her Grandpa Perkins STILL loves her very very much! There is a first time for everything, and I guess there was another memory made.

img_1864.jpg

Let me tell you, it is REALLY hard to imagine the dangers of holding something this cute…also, some things are just worth it!

img_1871.jpg

Her eyes are just the most wonderful things…

img_1854.jpg

This is a picture of us with our precious mid-wife Sylyna Kennedy and her assistant, Vicki. Truly special friends to us. We love them and their heart for the Lord and ministry to expecting mothers.

May God bless you all our dear family and friends…we love you!
