| Surveying the Land of OzSo, this is really long, has nothing to do with Oz, and there's not too much substance, per se, but in an act of ADD while preparing for my Youth Group lesson for tomorrow night, I saw that someone had posted this little quiz/survey thing on facebook. Basically, you open up your iTunes, iPod, or whatever, stick your song list on shuffle, and write down the songs that play when you come to the question, skipping to the very next song at each question. I figured that I would run this thing through my 6,627 song collection and see what I came up with. Obviously, these would be completely different if I did it again, but I'm not going to conduct a statistical analysis on this thing; I've graduated from college already.

The one that I thought was the funniest was the one that Missing Person from MWS came up for. However, it's late, I'm tired, and 6 o'clock comes sooner than most people think, so beyond saying that I am busy working, helping out with aforementioned youth group, and exercising, I'm really not doing too much...except maybe a little too much facebooking.

| Update/Tirade Hmm, well, quick update to the world. Let's see, since Oct. had thanksgiving, worked, played rugby, broke nose, had Christmas, fixed nose, grew chops, shaved chops, fixed car, played more rugby, ate much food(this one is prevalent throughout), worked more, and have continued on the path from whence graduation has led me. I will be spending this Sat. in a chicken BBQ pit, making excellent chicken to sell in order to raise money to take the youth kids to camp. I'm going to smell amazing! However, as the first long sentence shows, life after college is rather monotonous and milestoneless for the working man. We are no longer given these times to realize that April is coming, get ready to change into "summer mode", you simply wake up one morning and it's light outside, and warmer, except for those in the cold, cruel North. The trick is to make your own milestones, and to not forget your surroundings while being consumed by them. I, unfortunately, have been more focused upon surviving instead of thriving. I make the excuse of driving 1hr each way to work everyday, which does have an impact upon the decisions that I make concerning life outside of work, but in the end, I choose to sleep and languish in my abode upon coming home.
When you graduate, it is no longer the responsibility of the governing authority to ensure that you have something to occupy your time, except at your working establishment; it is yours. This philosophy of personal responsibility and individualism goes contrary to today's belief of having everything told to you, spoonfed you, and forced upon you by the governing system. Today, the supposed "free thinkers" are really just the ones that have grown up through this changing societal paradigm and are spouting the same thing that the convening "majority" feels is what is proper, or in today's case, politically correct. The tables are turning, and those who realize that personal responsibility is key to a successful society are becoming the fringe in the mad rush to be popular in a populist society that would have us become less learned and more compliant to the trends of the day. It is as if the alleged fringe is being put more into the position that our Founding Fathers were in their day. Marginalized, and unheard, they eventually had to take action. In their case, the action was a revolution that started this great nation. Today, our action is different, but no less clear. We need to make our voice heard among the din of TV, music, and the rest of society that is stifling this nation. We need to tell the government, "You are our bodyguards, not our parents! You work for us, not the other way around. And sometimes, we need to fail to understand our limitations, and to discover the right direction to go! You cannot always protect us from ourselves. Suggest how we may protect us from ourselves, do not mandate! Without failure, success loses its greatness."
One of the things that I do enjoy about being out of college is the ability to listen to talk radio again, whereas I didn't have time during the day. If you were bored enough to read my entire tirade, then let me give a few calming caveats. I am not preparing to overthrow the government; I'm not going to quit following the laws of this land unless they contradict the laws of God, and the fact that this treatise started with me being bored after work shows you what ADD can do at times. I am frustrated with the way that Congress is running this country, and the stupid things that are taken as truth in society, but I am not without hope for this country or this world. God is not through with it yet, and for that I am grateful. I will also endeavour to remember my own advice: "If you are bored; go do something productive."

| Quick UpdateI have been more lax then ever in updating this thing, mostly because I have to work everyday, and when I am finished, I have other things to do. Since graduation, I have gotten a new job working with wide area networking equipment, which although requires a 45 min drive, allows me to make money. This drive, however, is through the Blue Ridge Mountains, which lets me see the sun rise over the mountains every morning. If I ever buy a camera and take a picture of it, I will post it somewhere. When I don't work, I'm either sleeping or helping with my church's youth group. Corrupting young minds today will ensure their control tomorrow! Also, my 1985 duster is trying to die, and, since I didn't have inclination to try to drive it over the mountains everyday during the winter, I got a newer one. It is a 2001 PT Cruiser, and it is the nicest car that I have ever own, possibly ever driven. Unfortunately, as is the case with many of these purchases, I had to go into more debt, but it will transport me to said job in order to pay the aforementioned debt off. I would put up a picture of the car, but Xanga is telling me no, so look on my Facebook; it's there. Well, that's my life for the moment. Different, but by no means less busy; just a change of business.

| LazinessLaziness is: not updating your xanga page but every couple months...and since I have to go back to work, I'll have to say more later

| Much Time; Much StuffWow, I haven't posted on this thing in a while. It may have only been two months, but these were some of the most eventful months of my life thus far. After the Bryan College Film Festival, I had hell week, which entailed much stressing of many things, including all-nighters to finish Linear Algebra and Senior Thesis. Once that low was over, I had the incredible high of going to Mexico on cruise for our senior trip. From George jumping off the ship at the first stop to snorkeling in Cozumel to dancing the night away, it was experience of a lifetime. Not only was I on a cruise, but I was on it with some of my closest friends from college, doing crazy things with the pressures of classes and life gone for the moment. That made it all the more special. Once we got back from the trip, two days later, we graduated! That in and of itself was surreal and amazing. It just seemed like a dream that didn't really materialize until I actually went to the registrar's office and got that really expensive piece of paper that said, "Yes, you are fairly smart! Now leave, make money, and donate it to Bryan College!" Now here I am, back at home looking for the job that will make money to pay off the debts of going to Bryan College in order to one day, donate money to them again! Wait... Oh well, life has calmed down a bit from school, some of it good, but some of it saddening as well. I am excited about going to take the high school kids from Faith Bible Church to camp next week, and hopefully changing their lives as well as my own. Also, after I get back, I get to see two of my good friends get married in Roanoke. I may not be employed yet, but God has still been good to me. For instance, this evening, I hit an inside-the-park home run, which was awesome! It rolled to the fence, and God let my legs do the rest. We didn't win the game, but that definitely helped ease the sting a bit. Well, I must go do other things; Godspeed all.
