| So... The quickest update every in life..... 1. bought a car. a little green volvo, it is totally a teacher car and has a two body/full quartet trunk. 2. The baby that I nanny ate some banana nut bread, and then broke out in really bad hives and swelling. I was in the ER with him and his 4 year old brother for 2 hours. That is the scariest thing ever in life. 3. New teacher orientation starts in two weeks. I have yet to write my first few lessons. Maybe I should do that. 4. My sisters wedding is basically all planned:) And now we have to work on the Bridal shower which will be in 3 weeks. Scary! 5. I have off Wednesday - Sunday off right before I go to the new teacher orientation, and I need something to do that will be restful but not boring, and rejuvinating but not exhausting. Any suggestions? | | |
| So... Today I handed in my Music Program Proposal. It is 28 pages long, it covers 7 courses and I am so glad that it is done. I feel 100 hundred pounds lighter, actually I am only 22.5 lbs. lighter, but now I can just focus on getting my materials and units together. Also yesterday my favorite cousin and my best friend threw me a surprise 25th birthday. tomorrow is my birthday, but with all the wedding things going on for my sister, I was sure that we weren't going to be able to do anything. But my best friend and cousin weren't going to let that happen. It was so great! And they even told people that instead of gifts, to please give me money so that I can buy a car. And people listened. If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, just let me know:) As for a car, there is a strong possibility, but I want to be smart and make sure that I pray about it. I want to have my mom's mechanic look at it before we go forward with the purchase. So there you go, that's me. | | |
| So..... Today I had a meeting with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the High School that I am to be teaching at in the Fall. I was told by the secretary that we were going to discuss next years curriculum in the music program. The discussion went like this: "Hi, thanks for coming in today. I wanted to talk about the curriculum for the music classes. Right now what you have in front of you is basically a blank piece of paper." A blank piece of paper!!!! Really it wasn't blank, what was written on it was the outline for how this school writes its curriculum plans for all their courses. So I now have 15 days to write the curriculum for both Choral and Instrumental music, a curriculum that will be the foundation for myself and a very unique charter school. No Pressure | | |
| So... today the eldest child that I am watching had swimming lessons at the local public pool. I have taken him there for the last two weeks, and today some lady asked me if I had any more children. I said no and these really aren't mine anyways. But she said that you could tell that I loved them and that made me happy. And I do love them. Until no one goes down for a nap. No love, no more.

| So... I have officially accepted the position at the Nueva Esperanza Academy Charter High School. You can see the school at neacademy.org (no I don't know how to do the linkingk thing, just copy and paste people, it's not that hard. They have to add the last part, because the parent company, Nueva Esperanza, one of the first faith-based, non-profits started in Philly, also has a two year college. So all summer long, aside from Nannyingk, I will be preparing to start from scratch an instrumental and choral program. Now on to my favorite holiday of the year: no not Chritmas, Easter, Labor day, Chinese New Year or Thanksgiving.... The 4th of July. Now why do I love it so? B/C every year the Sunoco Gas Co. hosts a fabulous 14 day celebration know as the Welcome America Festival. You can learn all about it at their website www.americasbirthday.com I love the food, fireworks, free stuff, concerts, and massive crowds of people. It is the only parade that I will actually go to and sit through. It is one of the rare times that I feel like I need to be in Center City for two weeks straight, and It is the only time that I don't absolutely loathe and curse gas companies. So if you want to see a really great patriotic event done up as only the birthplace of our nation and the cradle of liberty, freedom and democracy can do it, come on by and hang out with your fav puerto rican. If you aren't sure you'll like it, just ask the squirel. She did it one year with my whole fam. And I dare say she had fun!! | | |
