  • Today is a good day!

We had a good day today.  Cierra came forward today during the invitation and gave her public profession of faith.  She is going to be baptized, probably next week.  We've been talking with her for a while.  About 2 or 3 weeks ago, she told me that she had asked Jesus unto her heart in the back yard.  She's been very adamant about that.  During VBS, she went forward during the invitation and told the counselor that she had given her heart to the Lord.  We asked her last week if she wanted to make her profession, and she was too scared.  So we've talked this week about what would happen when she went forward and that Mommy and Daddy would be up there with her.  Last night, she decided she would go forward this morning.  When the invitation started, I went to pick Cierra up from Children's Church.  All down the hall she kept saying, "I don't want to, I don't want to."  She was so scared.  But we prayed for God to give her strength, and up she went.  She wouldn't talk when Daniel asked her, but she nodded yes when he asked if she'd given her life to Jesus.  Of course, the church approved her for baptism.   Cierra survived all the hugs and hand shakes.  Then she came home and called her grandma and then she called her papa and nana.

So, it was a good day.   Now, I'm about ready for bed.

  • Life is continuing.

Cienna had her last day of summer school today.  When I picked her up, there were only two kids in the class.   Now, we have about a month of vacation.  I have to register her on Aug 5th for the school year.

I'm getting things ready for us to start school here.  I'm working on getting the first trimester planned out.  I'm trying to get things organized and go through left overs from last year.  I'm trying to find new handwriting material that is free.  I'm trying to figure out how I am going to homeschool 4 kids this year.  Yep, there will be 4 this year.  Courtland will be in 4-5th grades.  Cierra is in 1st.  Camry and Cienna will begin pre-school.  Can I really do this?  I don't know, but I'm going to try!

Daniel's leg is still bugging him.  He had to go back to the Dr. and get more antibiotics.  He's on Cipro, so no going outside for him.  The girls have been wanting to go back to the zoo, but until daddy's leg is better, it isn't going to happen.

My mom is doing my school supply shopping for me.  The prices at her Wal-Mart are significantly cheaper than at mine.   For example--Single subject notebooks-40 cents at mine, 5 cents at hers.  24 pack of Crayolas--$1.08 at mine, 20 cents at hers.  So, she's going to pick up stuff for us and we'll get it next time we come down.

I got to ride my scooter again today.  I enjoy getting out on that.  It helps me get away from all the junk going on.

Well, I'm off to bed.   Have a good weekend!!

  • On the road

I'm sitting in a Super 8 in Greenville, Illinois.  We left the house about 8:30 this morning and have had a pretty good trip.

We stopped in Joplin at a Big N Tall shop to look for clothes for Daniel.  We've just taken our time and not worried about much.  We stopped when we wanted to and enjoyed the quiet in the car when we were driving.

We're about 3 hours from Indianapolis, so we won't have to leave until around 9 or 10 in the morning.

I'll write more later this week, when I can find time.

  • Whew!

I am alive.  I've been spend the last three days cleaning the house.  We started on the upstairs Monday.  Courtland's room was cleaned.  That included shoveling out the closet so that the floor could be seen.  While the kids were cleaning in there, I cleaned up and organized the diaper closet, the hall closet, and the kids' bathroom.  The bathroom took the longest of all.  There is a shelf that goes the length of one wall about 4 ft from the floor.  I cleaned all the junk that had collected there.  I threw away about 6 empty bottles of shampoo or soap.  I organized the kids' medicine chest.  All of Courtland's contact stuff and deoderant has it's own special place now.  I also put all the tooth brushing stuff in it's own little section.  I cleaned up the towel area and tried to organize it a bit.  When the kids were done in Courtland's room, they moved to the girls' room.

Yesterday we spent working on the living room area.  I also went shopping last night.  I picked up food for next week.  Plus some other things we've been needing for awhile.  Oh, yeah!  Courtland fell down the basement stairs yesterday and almost busted his head open.  He's got an orange sized egg on his head.  This happened right before ball practice.  The hit was hard enough that we didn't let him go out in the heat to practice.  He was bit bummed until we told him that it was either one practice or the end of season tourny.  He conceded.

Today we cleaned the living room, dining room and kitchen.  We're not quite company clean on this floor, but we're getting closer.  I've done two loads of dishes and emptied 4 hampers.  I haven't got all the hanging clothes up yet, because I'm having trouble finding all our hangers.  I also replaced our broken garbage disposal with minimal help.

Tomorrow I'm going to continue on laundry and work on cleaning downstairs.  I've got to get my side of the room straightened.  That means I've got to put away all the bedding that's stacked up and find a place for all the books waiting on me to read.  I've got a bag of toys that we took out of the girls' room I've got to deal with.  I've also got to clean the master bathroom.  The tub needs a good scrubbing (or a good spraying with some no-scrub cleaner) and I've got to clean off the vanity top.

Friday is going to be spent finishing up the living, dining, and kitchen areas.  Then we've got to pack.  Courtland's tournament starts Friday night, so we'll have that as well.  Mom should be here sometime on Friday.  The kids are getting excited, and I don't have to push them too hard to clean because they know they are doing it for Grandma's arrival.

I'm hoping to get everything done.  But, the world won't end if I don't.  The house will definitely look better then it did last week!

  • Another Day

    What a day!

Woke up this morning with three kids curled up in the bed with us.  Sent two upstairs for breakfast.  Cienna looked at me and said, "Mommy, I sick."  When I asked her where she was sick, she rubbed her tummy.  "Maybe you're just hungry?"  She sits up, coughs, and throws up on the bed.  So, the fun begins.  Daniel and I strip the sheets.  I had to throw the bottom sheet away, because it had some pretty big holes in it.  Then, I began searching for a fitted sheet.  We had 5, a red one (the one I threw away), a blue one, a green one, a brown one, and another one (I can't remember the color).  I couldn't find any of them!  Courtland's bed is also without a sheet, so there are 2 fitted sheets we need and can't find.  I searched everywhere.  Couldn't find anything.  So, I head to Wal-Mart.  I need Gator-Ade for the sickie, batteries, and now fitted sheets.  While there, I picked up a couple of pizzas and a couple pair of capris that were on clearance.  When I got home, I found out that Cierra was also feeling puny.  So, I called my helper for the Wednesday night program and told her I wouldn't be there.  It wasn't a real big deal because we had business meeting tonight, so no major teaching.  She just had to do something in the time after the business meeting.

I spent the day doing laundry and taking care of the sickies.  Cienna threw up all morning, but was fine after about 2.  She even came up at 2 and ate pizza.  Cierra never got sick, she just felt sick.  But God knew what he was doing.  I guess the business meeting was a doozie.  It's a good thing I wasn't there, because I probably would have said something.

Daniel didn't get home until 8:20.  Church (and the business meeting) starts at 6.   UGH!

I got Courtland signed up for church camp.   He's looking forward to going again this year.  That week will just be me and the girls.  Daniel is the camp pastor this year, so he and Courtland will be down there together.

Tomorrow is Mission Friends and then I have an appointment to get my hair done.  It's needs a cut and perm badly.  And, it should have time to relax some before we go to Indianapolis.  This weekend I will color my hair again too.

I don't think we've got anything else going on this weekend.  Lawn's got to be mowed, and I've got to keep up with the laundry.  Next week will be cleaning the house and getting things ready for Mom to come up and watch the kids.

Oh, yeah, I found the blue sheet in the dryer.  And I remembered that the brown one got thrown away too.  Courtland got orange silly putty on it, and didn't tell me.  So, it was washed and dried, and ruined not only the sheet, but a couple of shirts as well.  Still got 2 missing.

  • The rest of the weekend....

We woke up Saturday morning to a cool, brisk day.  What a great day to go to the zoo!  We talked to the kids about it, and they all agreed.  So, off we head to the OKC zoo.  We reach the city and find the weather is COMPLETELY different!  It was hot and humid.  But, we drove the 1.5 hours to get there, so we are going.  We see the usual animals.  Elephants, hippos, rhinos, lions, tigers, apes, orangutangs, birds, reptiles, snakes, turtles, and so on.  We skipped a whole section because it was getting way too hot, and we were tired.  The highlight of the trip for the kids was the sprinklers.  Scattered throughout the zoo are colored poles with sprinklers attached to the top.  Push a button, and you get wet.  All 5 of the kids loved it.  Chonda had the most fun, I think.  We decided, as we were leaving, to buy a family Zoo Friends membership.  We were able to apply that day's admission to it, and the cost of the membership was the same as 2 trips to the zoo for us.  So, now we can go back whenever.

After the zoo, we drove to Midwest City (a suburb of OKC) to meet up with Daniel's parents.  His step-mom has family there and they were up visiting them.  We met them for dinner, and then headed home.

Sunday was the normal stuff.  Although, due to the late night Saturday, the kids didn't get baths before bed.  So, all 7 of us had baths/showers Sunday morning.  That is a major accomplishment for me!  Normally all the kids get their baths Saturday night, and Daniel and I have ours on Sunday morning.  I got up 30 minutes early to get all the kids bathed.

Yesterday was Daniel's day to pick.  We picked up Quizno's for lunch and headed to the park.  After eating and playing, the sky started to look dark, so we left the park.  We picked up some movies from the McDonald's RedBox and ice cream and milk at Braums.  We came home and watched Bee Movie.  The kids and I have seen it, but Daniel hadn't.  Then, we put on the Speed Racer cartoon for the kids.  Then, I went out to pick up chicken for dinner.  As, I am sitting in the drive thru line, I hear on the radio that we are in a tornado warning.  So, I call Daniel so he can turn off the movie and watch the weather.  I manage to get home and get the kids eating.  My plate is fixed and Daniel is out watching the weather.  We stood outside watching the clouds around us swirling.  We can see several areas dropping down from the wall cloud.  Then, the tornado sirens went off.  Now, we have NEVER had a tornado drill at our house, so things we a bit interesting.  We had told the kids as they were eating, that if we told them to go, they were immediately to go to Mommy and Daddy's closet.  So when the sirens went off, Courtland starts yelling. "GO GO GO GO GO!"  I grab the baby, and down we go.  Only one dog listens well enough to follow us.  The cable had gone out just previous to the sirens, and the power flickered several times.  We spent about 20 minutes down there.  The kids did great, except Chonda.  Explain to a 1 year old why she has to sit on Mommy's lap instead of playing.  Camry was very worried about the tornado "picking us up."  Cierra was a bit scared, but after being prompted, prayed and felt better.  Courtland was being the good big brother, trying hard to calm down his sisters.  Cienna just sat where we told her to for the most part.

So, after about 20 minutes, Daniel went up stairs to check things out.  We weren't getting very good reception on the weather radio in the closet.  Things were all clear and we headed up stairs.  Other than hail, there was no problems.  Since the cable was still out, we put on Waterhorse and Daniel and I ate our dinner.

Today, life began again.  I put away dishes, loaded the dishwasher, and washed a few dishes by hand.  Then, I began tackling laundry.  I've lost count of how many loads I've done today.  But, they've all be folded and PUT AWAY (that's my downfall.)  But, the kids are big enough now to help put clothes away.

We had the Cheesy Lasagna for dinner tonight.  I just pulled it out of the freezer and put it in the oven.  That was really nice.  While that was cooking, I cut Daniel's hair.  The kids really like the lasagna.  I was surprised since it has cottage cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream in it.  But they didn't know it.  We just told them is was cheese.  All but Chonda and Cienna had seconds.

Courtland has a ball game at 8:30 tonight.  It's a make up game.  If it starts on time, it will be over at 10.  Fun for us!

Cierra has almost finished with Kindergarten.  Actually, she's done with everything we had for her originally, but the publisher of our curriculum added another book to the Kindergarten curriculum, and we purchased it in March.  So, she is working through that book now.  But she's already a third of the way through it.  When she finishes that, I have a readiness test to give her to see how prepared she is for 1st grade.

Courtland finished his history today.  He's got art and English left to finish.

Well, the dryer is beeping at me, so off I go!
