HOORAY

So, Halloween was a lot of fun! Trinity and Xandra were both on board to be a bunny and a princess (things we had and didn't have to buy). But when A party came on Saturday...everything changed. That morning Trinity informed me she no longer wanted to be a princess and Xandra did not want to be a bunny. I asked her what she would like to be and she said " a hooray." I said "what?" and she explained..."you know, 'if you're happy and you know it shout hooray' I want to be a hooray." I asked her what a hooray looked like and she proceeded to describe them to me. For those of you who do not know, they have crazy pink hair, wear lots of necklaces, and march. I told her I thought a hooray was a great idea, but she would have to show me the clothes that a hooray would wear. Trinity picked out clothes for her and Xandra, I did their hair, then she proceeded to go into my closet to pick out my hooray outfit. (In the end, Don was a hooray as well). The local store however did not have pink hairspray, so she decided green would work okay too. When asked to further explain these people, Trinity gladly shared that they are tall, wear shoes, live outside, and do not talk. They just march, stare, and have a lot of fun. You can see Trinity talk a little about these Dr. Suessish people on our family website at web.mac.com/niemyer and see what the hooray family looked like. Fun times. The downside was Trinity had 3 pieces of candy that day and it apparently was too much, because she threw up Thursday morning. Oh well...it iwas fun anyway. My children never cease to amaze me.

It is days like today that I wish everyone could be a mom. Not for the reason some might think. Today was pretty normal. Sesame Street, Magnadoodle, snack time, tea party, but this afternoon was magical. Today was the 'free cone' day at Ben and Jerry's and it just so happens that we have one 6 blocks from our house. Trinity and Xandra and I set off on our adventure for free ice cream around 4pm (right after nap time). While on our walk it began to rain. While we were standing in the line stretched around the block, the rain got harder, and 45 minutes later when we emerged from the store, it was POURING! We walked home in the pouring rain...singing, dancing, splashing in puddles, with Trinity enjoying what bit of ice cream the rain didn't melt away. I felt a little like I was in a commercial. One that brings tears to the eyes of other mothers that all know what those moments feel like. When we got home, we sat in the kitchen soaking wet, enjoyed some tea together and laughed and played. It definitely goes down in my books as one of the most magical moments of motherhood so far, and I am looking forward to many more like it. So, in honor of the day and the moments, I just thought I would share.

well, I must admit, I have recently abandoned xanga world for myspace. Sad...I know. Although I have not been blogging at all in the recent past. Life continues to get buisy. The last week and a half have been really crazy without much down time at all. I have started a (very) part time job at Curves and I am loving it. The women I am around there are inspirational and I am having a good time working and losing some of that baby weight at the same time! I work 10-15 hours a week, and Don stays home with the girls during those times, so it works out PERFECT! Don also got a promotion at work. He is now an area manager which means he manages 2 stores instead of one. He is still enjoying his job and this season...but we are looking forward to being done with debt and opening a coffee shop here in Portland.
Speaking of coffee shops...we are doing our first Blue Door here THIS FRIDAY!!! Blue Door is an interactive multi-arts event that explores a theme through different modes of art. The theme is typically Spiritual in nature and our hope is that it sparks spiritual conversations with people throughout the evening. The theme for this one is "words can..." and our friend Aaron Strumple from Colorado is doing music, a couple people are doing poetry, and our friend Sarah is painting. We are also having a self expression painting station and people can submit poetry. We are hoping to have some hand percussion set up in the coffee shop as well, so...if any one in the area has some hand drums or percussion they wouldn't mind being used in a drum circle...let me know...that would be GREAT!!!
For those of you in the area it will be This Friday, April 20th, from 7-9pm at Sound Grounds on Belmont.

The girls are doing wonderfully. Xandra started crawling on easter and is all over the place. She is also pulling herself up on things. She now says 'dada' 'hi' or 'hey' and 'mama' (she only says 'mama' when she is mad, tired, or gets hurt...which is happening a lot now that she is mobile). Trinity is getting too smart for her own good. She knows how to spell a couple words and write the letters A, E, F, I, L, M, O, and T. She is enjoying Blue Door Season because there are paints and canvases out for her to express herself on. She really is sweet as can be. Her heart is so beautiful. Anyone who wants to see pictures and/or videos of the girls (there are new ones up) the web site is

Well, back to playing Dress Up! How fun is my life?!?

A long time ago I posted an entry about a lesson God was teaching me. It was a hard lesson to learn, but it was about the goodness of God. The super short story ended with me coming to the realization that God's goodness doesn't depend on my circumstances. Brilliant, I know. But for me it was HUGE. It doesn't matter if we are homeless or in a hotel, healthy or sick, with money or without...God is still Good regaurdless.

That being said...right now, I can see his goodness in our life...and that feels really good.

My family is wonderful. My girls get better by the day. For pictures of the family you can check out our family website at web.mac.com/niemyer or visit fullofgracephotography.com and look under the babies and children section and family section. Don and I continue to enjoy marriage and life together more by the day. It will be 4 years in June. We just moved to a house right in the middle of Hawthorne. (The district in Portland that made us move here). We are less than a block to the library, 3/10 of a mile from the big park in town, 2 blocks from Hawthorne Street, and only a few more to Belmont (the place we dream of putting in our coffee shop). This friday I am hosting a clothing swap for women I have met via Craigslist or other places, and in 2 weeks we will most likely be hosting a house concert for a group from Canada who travel as touring musicians/missionaries.

Church planting is going well, and we are continually becoming more intentional in our work with a couple that we have met here in the city. We are meeting lots of other church planters, leaders, and building relationships there.

I look around and my heart is so full of gratitude. I see the dreams in my heart becoming the life that I live, and I am so thankful.

So, although God's goodness is sure regaurdless of my ability to see it, it is nice of Him to show me that goodness and allow my hearts desires to be fulfilled as well. My heart is full, and I just thought I would share.

So I got a little carried away a le days ago with the Christmas gift making. For friends and Don's co-workers this year we made Peanut butter fudge wreaths. They turned out great, but in less than 12 hours I made over 14 pounds of fudge...craziness.

If any of you want to see pictures and video of Trinity and Xandra, you can view our family web site at

web.mac.com/niemyer

We just updated and there are some cute things on there.

Merry Christmas friends...my love to you all!
