Dodgeball - movie, 4 stars

I picked up the Widescreen Edition of Dodgeball on DVD this week at my favorite place to waste time:  TARGET.  I caught parts of this funny movie on my flight back from Spain in November.  Ben Stiller always makes me laugh.  He's much funnier than that other Ben - Ben Asslick ughh... Affleck.  I caught his movie Paycheck with Uma Thurman on another flight from somewhere.  What a waste of life...  I'm glad I had nothing better to do.  I couldn't even sleep.

I digress...Dodgeball:  Funny, great cast, superb cameos, excellent physical humor.  It seems that there are many people returning from Old School in this movie.  I get the feeling that this movie is like "There's Something About Mary" not quite as funny the second time around.  But I'll give it a chance plus I'll check out the commentary track on the DVD.

Mama Mia! Madrid - destination, 4 stars

Mama Mia!

20 Noveimbre 2004 22:00 Performance at the Lope De Vega Theatre Madrid.

Well my first choice was DRALION a la Cirque du Soleil at the Plaza Del Campo in Madrid.  That was sold out until 8 December.  I couldnīt wait til then.  So I decided to take in one of the other shows that was playing in Madrid and seem to be very popular: Cats, Caberet, and Mama Mia!.   I should have realized that everything would be translated to Spanish.  This made it difficult to appreciate all of the comedy, dialogue, and ABBA songs that were Espagnafied.   I enjoyed it otherwise.  I like the Theatre.  I like going out and the atmosphere.  I hope to take my family to these kinda cultural outings and make it a regular thing.  SF (ie San Francisco) has some great theatre.

Anyway, if you are in Madrid the show is good!  I will check it out for sure somewhere in the States... SF or Las Vegas.  ciao!
