| Wowww, look at me, dustin' off the ol' xanga. Well let's see... it has certainly been a while since I've posted in here. First, for all of you who've missed it, let's do a quick recap from my last entry, which appears to be right before my high school graduation. Okay, so I graduated from high school. That was fun I suppose. Started my post-high school life at UTSA (that's the University of Texas at San Antonio for you unhappenin' people out there). Had an apartment with two random guys, Chris Miller and Jason Kumar. About a month into the school year my dad was diagnosed with liver cancer, and passed away two weeks later. After that my old school habits sunk back in, and let's just say I didn't do too well finishing up the semester. Spring semester was a lot better, but something still wasn't quite right, so I decided to leave UTSA and move back home for a year or so. I started up at HCC, but I don't believe I'll be going back there in the spring. Right now I'm working pretty much full time at Potter Barn (Hey, I work in the stock room. It's manly work, okay?) So yeah, here I am. Quitting community college, working full time, and living at home. Great place to be, huh?
Well fear not, loyal subjects! Jeff always lands on his feet (I'm Jeff, by the way. Don't know if you caught that from the "coolhandjeff" thing). Luckily I make enough money to satisfy the status quo, while still being able to save some. My current plan is to start a website, and that's where you all come in. I'm trying to think of what kind of website to start. I'm thinking photography tips. I know I'm not exactly an expert, but I could probably pass on a thing or two. Plus, I'd learn more! Anyway, that's just an idea. This is brainstorming, remember. So anyway, any ideas for a website are very welcome.
In other news, I don't think I'll really be updating this anymore. I am, however, thinking about getting a blog over at blogger.com. If I do end up doing that, I'll give everyone the link. So yeah, that's it for now. I might post a few more entries here before abandoning it again or switching over to a new blog. Ciao baby! (but not for long)

| Mood = Apathetic
Dear diary,
Today was the last completely normal day of school. What a drag. Yurij and Blake were supposed to go rent The Highlander: Endgame to watch in GMO, but they weren't able to because, like most of modern society, they are unreliable. Sometimes I wish I lived back when vampires were around, then I'd be right at home. So instead of watching Scottish immortals killing eachother (not quite sure how that works), I had to listen to Alice talk and talk the entire time. She's always so cheery. I don't know why. She must not see the darkness and cruelty in the world today. She was making me really depressed. In speech I decided to not conform and I didn't write my speech that was due today. Take that, Spring Branch. When I got home, I listened to Marilyn Manson's new album. He's way too mainstream for me, but at the same time he's the only one who understands me. After crying a little, I went to the store and bought some Chili-Cheese Fritos. Normally I wouldn't support a corporation like Frito-Lay, but I was really hungry. I would write more, but I'm too depressed right now. Besides, it's not like anybody reads this anyway. ciao baby... :sigh:

| This is absolutely necessary:

i'm sure ben will appreciate that. | | |
| so ben talked about what happened tonight in his xanga, which was a very good description of the events and i recommend that everyone else read it. i think i'll tell it from my point of view as well though. its pretty long though.
so i got the gang together to get some brother's pizza tonight. and by the gang i mean me, ben, chris, and bryant. jason, amyn, and kyle also ended up going, which is great. we had a pretty good dinner and saw some pretty cool speed skating wipeouts on the olympics. afterward amyn and kyle left to go do their own thing, while the rest of us crammed in bens car and went to chris's house. we watched a couple flash animations (very funny) then left to go find something else to do. we decided to go to westheimer because hey, westheimer is a pretty happenin street. almost got hit a couple times by this guy under some sort of influence until ben sped past him. ben and i decided to see if anything good was playing at AMC (we were in the front seats, therefor in control of the car). there wasnt. so we get back on dunvale.
turning right from dunvale onto westheimer, we saw some guys running across the street and thought "what idiots, they'll probably get hit" as they were running very carelessly across one of, if not the, busiest streets in houston. then i saw what they were running to. it was an old pickup truck (i believe from like the 70s or the 80s) that had its front all smashed in in front of a tree. it was still smoking and no one was around, except for the guys who had sprinted across the street. it was obvious that this truck had within the past few seconds crashed into the tree. so we drive over to the parking lot near it and get out to see if there was anything we could do to help. there was already about 3 or 4 guys huddled around the driver's door, occasionally ducking their heads in. one of them yelled for his girlriend (i think they were out on a group date or something. they were young, in their 20s i'd say) to get a pen quickly. we decided the lady driving the truck was having a seizure.
she was obviously still alive as she was laying down in the truck but i saw her slowly rock upward almost into a sitting position before laying back down. the five of us stood there and watched it, mostly just in awe. i know i wish i could have helped, but we probably would have just gotten in the way, and i dont think there was really anything we could do that the guys already there werent already doing. we stood there until a guy came up behind us and asked us to back away from the scene, and then showed us a badge. he was in plain clothes, and we figured he was a detective though probably off duty because it looked like his family was in the car that he came from (just a regular car) so he probably just happened to be in the right place at the right time. after a while a couple wreckers, about 5 squad cars, an ambulance and a fire truck had arrived. they put the woman on the stretcher and got her into the ambulance. there didnt seem to be a whole lot of urgency in the whole thing, and we could tell she was alive when she went into the stretcher, so we decided that she probably wasnt in critical condition as the ambulance didnt move for quite a while after she was in there. eventually the wreckers towed away the truck, whose front had obviously wrapped around the tree, and the ambulance and most of the squad cars left, so we did too.
it definitely was a sight to behold. it was really good seeing people helping this woman out. i've heard stories of people being shot or hit by cars and the people around not even batting an eye, and that really bothers me. but seeing what i saw tonight made me feel exceptionally good. it also gave me confidence in myself. i've often wondered to myself if something awful happened around me, would i be able to step up to the plate and help out a complete stranger like that. i've always thought i would, but never TRULY known what i would do. but when i saw what was going i knew that if it was needed of me, i would have jumped right in there in a heartbeat and done anything i could to help that woman, and it made me feel good. i learned a little about myself tonight, and was reassured that there's still some hope left in humanity, and knowing that the woman is probably going to live made me feel good too.
if you read this far, good job. it also made me think about helping people for a living, but theres no way i could be a doctor or something like that. maybe a cop... anyway, long entry for tonight to make up for not posting anymore. ciao baby!
