What can a person do to be more optimistic in life?

Have you been there? I went to China currently, with a very adventurous mind. I didn't like it there that much, my friends would actually tell you I absolutely hated it there. However, seeing the lives they lead, with the added culture and environment, it really made me understand why some people want to move to the States, and why some others hate Americans for not knowing how good of a life they have.

I think human are very versatile creatures, able to tolerate and thrive under different conditions. While my trips to China do make me appreciate how easy life is in the US and how much freedom we take for granted, I do try to focus on the interesting and good things about the places I visit.
