Expertise: I'm an expert on movies and actors. In fact, you may have heard of the Kevin Bacon Game. Well, I don't like that the game has that limitation. I can connect any actor to any other actor in 6 moves or less! It's true...try me! Only 2 rules: I have to know who the people are, and I don't do dead people. Any Challengers?

Okay, okay, this is not the really cool contest.  The really cool contest is taking way to long to put together, and to tell you the truth, I'm getting a little burned out.  However, I did have some free time today and did have something to put to the masses of people that frequent my site everyday.

The topic today is books.  I live about 45 minutes from Harding, and so suffer the woes of a commuter.  Thus, I'm an avid audio book reader (Later we can discuss if listening to a book is actually reading it.  I say yes, but if you're reading this and disagree, then I have change wording to, "I type yes" ha ha).  I listen to about a book a week, and have been having trouble with my choice selection as of late.

So, I thought that I'd go to my xanga friends and see what's out there.  Have you read anything really stimulating lately?  Has there been a book that kept your attention so strongly that you couldn't help but turn the next page?  If so, post up!

To reciprocate, I'll tell you that I've been really into an author by the name of Ted Dekker.  He writes Christian fiction (which could be considered even thrillerish).  Real deep stuff with good characters and challenging messages. "Three" was the first one of his that I read, and have since moved on to "Blink" and am now starting the Trilogy "Black", "Red", and "White".  So if you're looking for something to keep your attention, give him a look.

In rare xanga form, I would like to give a little shout out to the Texas Longhorns for such an amazing season.  I realize that many who will read this will also not care too much for the subject matter.   But as it is my page, and my favorite college football team, I don't have to care what you say.  Barring any unforeseen setbacks, you should see UT play USC in the Rose Bowl after New Year's.  It's going to be quite a game in which, I realize, few of you will be watching.  In any case, here's to the Texas Longhorns.  May they continue this winning streak, may they beat the shorts off of USC, and may Vince Young join us for one more year!

A New Post, But No New Contest....Yet

I guess apologies are in order to those of you who have come looking for the new Tappe contest, and have left empty handed.  Last week was a tad bit overwhelming, and I finished it off with a little vacation to my parents house.

Updates:

#1  Ella rocks.  She's an amazing traveller and is starting to sleep longer and longer (which is good for her daddy)

#2  I'm working on a new contest that will blow your socks off.  Prize will be bigger, the subject will be tougher, and it will require a little more time on behalf of those who want to win.  You know I'm all about the games!  Look for this one to be posted over the Thanksgiving break.

#3  I'm getting pumped up about this year's Winterfest. Hope to see many of you guys there.

#4  I'm still addicted to Especial Lunch #3 at every Mexican place in Searcy (I suppose it would have made more since to make this update #3 instead of #4.  Oh well, it's not like I can change it now)

#5  I'm curious as to what you think the best Movie Series is (i.e. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables).  No t-shirts, just curious.

#6  I'm done with this post.

That's your winner!  I'm not sure who put it down, but I liked this idea best.  Where I can agree that Searcy may not need any more restraunts, I think this one is a no-brainer. Who wouldn't choose Fazoli's over most Searcy places if not for the breadsticks alone?  I mean, those things are a gold mine. Plus, it was a little more tangible than some of the "Do anything while doing your laundry".  What's up with all the ideas involving laundry?  I had to disqualify the crystal-meth lab, and the Chili's idea wouldn't work with this being a dry county.  I didn't feel like that frisbee shop had much longevity, and the movie theater was just boring.  And again, LAUNDRY + COFFEE just does not = $$$$ in my mind.  I could be off base here.

I realize this wasn't the most popular of contests and will be attempting to beef up my game next week.  Stay tuned for some pretty sweet riddle action next week.  We also advance to gift certificates as opposed to Harding gear.

Easter needs to get with me and let me know how to get him his prize.  E-mail me at ctappe@harding.edu.

That's it for this week kids!

I've got some pretty heavy shin splints.  For anyone else who has shared this experience, you know that it's a pretty painful ordeal.  Anyway, just thought someone would be interested and share in my pain.

Speaking of pain:  No one has totally put the hurt on this Searcy Business deal.  Too much time spent on griping how they're not good at business, and not near enough time spent thinking of an original idea.  There are many Searcy people that post on here, and you can't tell me that you haven't had conversations with your friends about, "what Searcy needs is..."  You can't tell me that!  Morris Seawel would be the first to tell you that this town needs a Krispy Kreme up in this joint (speaking of joints makes me remember my wicked shin splints).  I've been calling out for a Wings place for years.  What have you thought of?  Post up before Thursday!
