| Well, I figured I might be able to pull together an entry since this week was so freakin awesome. But don't you expect regular entries out of me. Just when stuff happens....
First, let me say that there are few things funnier than Mr. G talking with an Indian accent and ranting about outsourcing. My lesson this week was awesome! It went perfectly, intonation was good, it was clean (that's a first!), and he just really liked what I had prepared! I was pumped!
Orchestra has been awesome; we have a concert today that I hope we get some good attendance for. The program is awesome, the orchestra is sounding great, and I'm just really excited for it. Nothing's more fun than playing insanely fast and awesome ethnic dance music!
In other news, my baroque studies have gotten into full swing. I've begun my rehearsals with the Peabody Baroque "orchestra" (it's really too small to be called an orchestra), which is an amazing experience. We're doing some stuff of our own, and some opera accompianment. It's really amazing. I'm learning quite a bit, and everyone is really working hard there. It's fun to have such a tight ensemble. They've been very welcoming.
I had a baroque violin lesson today and it went awesome as well! We worked on a Telemann Fantasy first, and she seemed to really like what I was doing with it. We worked on other interprative techniques and better technique with sounding point (which is impossible with gut strings). Then I played the Biber Passicaglia. And she really really like it! I was so pleased! I worked my butt off on it, and she really enjoyed it! So next I'll be working on some Westhoff Suites (which are written super wierd in the manuscript) and more Telemann I'm sure.
Well, I may revise this later, but I have a concert to play. Later.

| So I realized today as I was engulfing my senses into the amazing orgy
of sound that is the Bach D minor Partita, that I never blogged on my
first lesson. I should do that....
Well, he came in late. I wasn't too happy about it, but oh well. I
played my audition stuff for him (Lalo 5 and Sarabande from the D minor
partita), and he said he saw improvement, which is good. The Lalo still
wasn't where i wanted it, but the partita was good. Haha, we were
discussing my other colleges, and the reasons I didn't like the
teachers. We were talking about some teachers that are too cutesy with
their students, and he goes
"Yeah, it's not like we're on the purple dinosaur show. Guh huh huh
huh, let's practice, kids! Guh huh huh!" (That "guh huh huh" is the
laugh that Barney does on TV).
And then when we were discussing the teachers at one of the schools I
applied to, he did an impression of a Valley Girl "like oh my gosh!
That was like soooooooo sharp!". Haha. It was amazing.
Later that day, I had my audition. My Lalo was great, and so was my
Bach. I'm confident that I'll do just fine for seating in orchestra. I
kinda hope I get principal second, but i dunno. Cause she likes to
shift people around too, and I don't want to really be a 2nd unless I'm
doing something leadership-wise. Otherwise, I'd rather just be playing
the harder part. If that makes any sense at all (i know, it probably
doesn't).
Today was good too. I practiced a good solid 4 hours, and just got back
from dinner with Uncle Leo. Twas reaaaaaally funny. Hahaha, he was
talking about one year many moons ago the orchestra had 2 violas that
sounded like chickens in heat. I love that guy.
Well, I have to get ready for trying to get people to come sing for my 4:00 mass. Talk to you all later!
