| take awaysPaul and Phyllis Stanley, Jerry and Gail Bangert, Bob Foster, Lee and Miltinnie Yih: great mentors and challenging speakers. Paul Stanley: The development of me: • Secret agents of grace • Change our mindset of how we are bound by measuring others based on merit, performance, worth, etc. Instead, to be more like Jesus and show grace willingly and give generously. • Story of Antonio the florist: He doesn't sell just flowers, he sells Beauty....what am I selling? • We are formed in the mind of God before He put us in the womb. God has a purpose for all his creations.
Jerry Bangert: Authority of Scripture: • Any man who walks away impressed with their life will have missed something • The story of Samuel and Saul: No partial credit because all credit goes to God not ours to have. • Why do we hold the same standards and ideals to the people who are not bound by the same rules? If our aim is to improve society, we will have forgotten our purpose in being in the business of winning souls. • The issue of the Bible is Authority. Self vs God; other people's voice vs God's voice • If you can defend your views in front of Jesus on judgement day, then all is well. • Don't let the new generation ratify your thinking. don't let what you don't understand become disregarded. • Who told you there was a deeper meaning? • Revelations 21: God hates cowards
Bob Foster: Where are they going to bury my heart: • Citius: Get going; Altius: Aim High; Fortius: Finish it/Stay with it • Consider the tension that is in your life • Grasp the objectives of your life(behold the beauty of your life) • Exercise to finish well.
Gender Breakouts: • Women are made beautiful and unique because we are the only ones that can give life. • Some results from the feminist movement are great, however, some results has deceived us. They will have you think you can have it all...both a great career and a great family. • Miltinnie used the report card example: when you get your report card, which 'class' will be prioritized to get As in? Which 'class' will you settle for a B or C. • Have the end goal in mind and work backwards. If it's a career you desire to have 20yrs down the line, then pursue your careers now. However, if it is family and children that you wish to have then action needs to be taken accordingly. • "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." ~ Ecclesiastes. There's a season to raising your family and there's a season to focus back on your career • the bible does not say women should not work. However, the bible does state the importance of family. • Value what God values.
Reflections from the Huddle groups: • Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house. ~ proverbs 24:27 • From that verse, our comforts are last on the list. • Realized I have been putting my own comforts first(when it came to career) and thinking that the ministry is the byproduct of my work. Instead, my ministry should be the aim and work is the tool to carry out that ministry.
