phuket sunset

A lovely week was spent in Khao Lak, Phuket, bonding with mom over whiskey, chasing sunsets and clouds, getting some sun and catching up on some much needed reading. the sandy beaches were fantastic and lazing on a deck chair with a huge coconut, whilst listening to the waves gently caressing the shore proved to be very therapeutic and satisfying.

everything was perfect, minus the part where i lost my IR remote to the crashing waves. a small remote to trigger my camera fell as i was positioning my tripod in the water, my mouth was a huge "O" and i later heard the groaning "Noooo!!!" in my mind's eye as it washed out to sea.

major bummer.

cloud chaser

Just beyond the sunset
Someone waits for me
Just beyond the sunset
Lies my destiny
Where the purple mountains
Lie in deep tranquillity
There I’ll find the treasure
Of love eternally

can i just say that i had it enough with my 3-way pan tilt slik tri-cheapo-pod?
i need a 488rc4, a ballhead. its frustrating when ure excited at getting the shot,
turn 4 knobs at different angles and trying not to fall over the edge of pier all at the same time!

note to self: start saving, stop complaining.

MacRitchie sunset
the result

Over 100 ha of primary forest still flourish in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve today, particularly around MacRitchie. Rubber trees, remnants of the plantations there in the 19th century, can still be seen along the fringes around MacRitchie.

There are boardwalks skirting the edge of the scenic MacRitchie Reservoir and walking trails through the forest. They range in distances from 3 km to 11 km. Interpretative signboards along the boardwalks allow for a self-guided tour along the fringes of the MacRitchie forest.

me shooting sunset

chasing the sun, from sun up to sun down has been a reaaaaallly enjoyable process,
minus the hours lazing in bed and waking up to scones,
add in some time to get down and dirty out in the field.

nothing can beat that.

here, i wanted to get as much water as i could to frame the clouds reflecting
from the water's surface, using very narrow apertures to allow for smooth silky water.

Apart from a something nipping me in the water, i had to remain very still while waiting
for the long exposure to end, at the same time, look out for the park ranger and pray i don't
get caught wading in our local reservoirs:P

haha. whew, what a day!
