  • Grumbling Beethoven Dog

Rain, cloudy and cold, all the making for a grumpy old dog. Each time I pass by he looks at me like the weather is my fault. Yesterday was so warm, nice out and he had a good time sunning himself and having a few good rolls in the grass. Today he's snoozing in his house unhappy, not one tail wag today can be found.

I spent the weekend cleaning and taking junk I don't use or need to the jumble pile. I bought a new gas grill, 3-burners, stainless steele! Yoo-Hoo Princess Honey, I finally got one! Unfortunately I have to go bu the gas tank Monday and in the evening I'll have either a real grilled burger or a steak. I'm so excited as is the roomate, he likes grilling though he'd rather not be the cook. Thats been my weekend so far. Monday, I am going to learn to create my own powerpoint for a work presentation. This will be my first attempt at such creativity and very quite anxious for it. How was your weekends Dear Friends?

  • Roomate, Travel and Eating

Today, I'm shampooing carpets in preparation for the arrival of the roomate. Roomate only, nothing else! There will be much moving of stuff I don't use out of the 2nd bedroom to the garage for the annual rummage sale! What a change it will be have this person in the house. Beethoven will love it, he already likes this person and doesn't listen to him at all, which is one of Beethovens trades marks, don't listen, beg for treats, act cute. He and the roomate will end up fighting.(*note to self-let em fight, retreat to the bedroom)

I'm officially at the point where I want the weather to decide what it's going to do, stay warm and tease us with 40 degree temps and the promise of sunshine or chilly northerly winds and temps in the 30's. I mean WTF! Warmer days I heard are just arond the corner, where is this corner? I'm complaining because I have to haul stuff out to the garage in the chilly wind, open the heavy garage door and stack things neatly in there,(*note to self- buy a bottle of whiskey hide in garage take a sip for each trip). I will bundle up to get the job the done, the tea kettle will be busy this afternoon as I then begin the task of shampooing carpets. I thought the roomate should have to clean his own carpet, but  being the nice guy I am, I thought I'd take advantage of myself for being so nice and just do it myself so it gets done right. Yeah I'm a bastad when it comes to doing the right thing. (*note to self-turn into a lazy bum)

Work is going well, I have to develope my own training program not only for myself but also for the custodial staff. I was like WTF? So, being internet savy as I am, I found seminars! Seminars galore, seminars all over the US, east coast, west coast, down south and up north. Seminars that fit right into what my position is, I found one to attend in Bloomington, Minnesota, the boss ruled out going to Florida, New York, San Diego, Seattle, Phoenix or Denver. I got even though, the seminar in Bloomington, is $399 for 2-days, plus hotel, meals and 1 extra night.(*note to self-always stay 1 extra night before or after). Bloomington is right next door to Minneapolis so this will give me time to stop and see friends there in the evenings and being in June the weather should be much warmer.

I have a new office mate also, she's the new IT Tech that was hired, very nice young gal, married and has 1 kid. I like her, she has a good sense of humour, she can tell some dirty jokes, isn't afraid to swear and she likes to laugh which is the best part of sharing the office with her. (*note to self-always keep laughing no matter what). I however got a new desk out of this she got the old one. Age has is it's benefits.

I've been watching this TV program called " I can make you Thin". some British chap who makes sense. Eat when your hungry, eat what you want, eat consciously, then stop. That was week 1 of his program, the idea is to get people off the diet roller coaster so many of us have been on, week 2 was on controlling our emotionall eating styles and he added in a few tricks to help, week 3 will be on cravings and how to re-educate and re-gain our control. This is on every Sunday evening with a new episode. I have noticed that I feel better, I don't have to clean my plate each time, I take my time eating instead of vacuuming it up and I'm dropping weight. This makes so much more sense then the previous "diets" and food programs. Life is good, getting better each day. (*note to self-pull up my baggy jeans).

Well Dear Friends thats been my last few weeks here in South Dakota, life is good, I can't complain to much I don't really have a right to so I best not. Beethoven is happy being himself he'll be 17 years old July 21and cute as ever and just as bossy, I love him.

  • Trails

Today I went over to Blue Mound State Park around Luverne, Minnesota. Blue sky, some clouds moving in, breezy, one of those days where a good scarf, stockingcap, and some good gloves were called for. A sturdy pair of good hiking boots and I was set.  Simple day, nothing major and of course good company with my friend Keenan.

He made a new trail for himself as he hasn't ever been to this park, I hope he goes alone sometime to hang out on the rocks. DSC00033 DSC00036 Tyler's Rock.

  • Pizza Pie Night

    DSC00026

Frozen pizza pie, thin crust pepperoni. I have to make a casserole for tomorrows clinic potluck. Yeah I'm being gastronimically challenged tonight so the freezer case at the store spoke to me and suggested this fine looking frozen pizza pie. What are you all having for dinner this evening?

  • Cold Days, Warm Thoughts

What a difference in our temperatures, we just had a week of below 0 temps. The kind of cold when you walk on the snow the snow squeeks because its so cold. Things that go cold:

    1. My little truck takes 1/2 hour to warm up when its -15 out.

    2. Beethoven runs out pees before he gets icicles.

    3. The squirrels don't venture out till around 10am to look for nuts.

    4. The trash man doesn't ride the end of the truck, he rides with the driver, jumps out empties the bins then jumps back in the cab.

    5. Ice crystals freeze over the windows.

    6. Ice forms on the bottom of window in my office.

    7. Crazy co-workers will brave below 0 temps to stand out and smoke.

    8. People with auto-starters have smiles when they start the car 20 minutes before they leave work.

    9. Didn't see anyone drinking ice cold drinks this week past.

    10. Older people are smart, they don't leave their house to go out.

Saturday, we are out of the freeze box temps at 33 above 0. God is Great!
