| Rest and bedlam.
Those two contradictory creations of spring break.
There is no epiphany, only a gradual realization.
It's that time again.

| Ideas of essentialism?" ... a world which yields him no true self-consciousness, but only lets him see himself through the revelation of the other world. It is a peculiar sensation, this double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others, of measuring one's soul by the tape of a world that looks on in amused contempt and pity. One ever feels his two-ness, ... two souls, two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings; two warring ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder."
W.E.B. Du Bois - The Souls of Black Folk "Of Our Spiritual Strivings"

| Adultery isn't a crime.Yes, yes, I know what you all think.
I cheated on my love. But you know what, I had good reason. I felt
drained, dealing with the drama of this relationship non-stop. I went
out, got drunk, and had a romantic liaison. I don't regret it now and I
won't regret it if it continued. It wasn't me being a cheap fuck or
anything like that. It was just... sparks.
New York, you're still my true love though.
Florida, I'll see you when I get mad at New York again.
P.S. - Soap opera stars are fucking hot.

| Shiny treasure!I was walking to the post office today when I noticed a shiny object on
the floor. As I leaned over to pick it up from the dirty New York
sidewalk, it moved. Thinking it absurd that a solid object would move
without a push, I stood up and glanced around. One never knows when at
the end of a practical joke. However, looking around me revealed not a
soul. Unless you count the two old ladies with shopping bags waiting
for the M15. I looked down again, expecting to see the goddamned shiny
object. What do you know. It was nothing more than a gum wrapper.
As with all New York City mini-adventures (or perhaps adventures the
world over), its easy to find something that bears closer inspection.
You never know what you'll find. Most often though, all that's really
there is a piece of dirt painted with no little gilt. Disappointments
abound in this grand ole city and I, for one, am more than satisfied
with a cup of booze, cigarettes, and chocolate.
