Walden Pond

I went to Walden Pond today and stood on the stone where Thoreau's chimney stood. There were kinds of trees I'd never seen before, different oaks, birches, pines.  Breezes blew across the water, and we kept getting this faint scent like lilac drifting to us across the pond.
This struck me.  I've never stood on the same spot where a major work of English literature was written.  And whatever you think of Thoreau, it was a little dizzying for me to stand there.  I did my senior English term paper on Thoreau and got rather attached to the fellow.  He's very quotable.
I would be, too, if I saw that pond and those trees every day.

More temperature

The thermostat on my window says 63.  I cooked for an hour over a gas stove in an unairconditioned kitchen, and it was not hot.  This is crazy stuff.

I don't really enjoy talking to myself on this thing.  Give me a call if you want to chat.  If you want the bare facts, I am
1) Living in Watertown, MA.
2) Starting school on September 4.
3) Hoping to tutor for Kaplan.
4) Missing Kyle, but making it-so don't mess it up by asking me whether I miss Kyle, please, or I will look at you strangely.
5) Getting married June 7, 2008.

If I write too much on here, I don't write in my journal; if I write in my journal, it's bare-bones news here.  Sorry bout that.

Temperature

My cat at home is running a temperature.

The projected high temperature for Russellville tomorrow is 90.  For Boston?  65.

I think I'm going to love that place.

And poor Kyle's in Houston, where it will be 94.

Engaged

Kyle and I are engaged now, officially.  Keep a vague space in your calendars for late May/early June next year.

In other news, it is hard to communicate to most jewelers that you want an emerald in your engagement ring.

Bump

It seems like the world just hit a bump or something, doesn't it?
