| Fall WeekendsFor the past month, I've soaked up the essence of fall weekends in NY. Here are some pics! Oct 13 Nothing beats getting out of the city and enjoying the fall foliage, outlet mall shopping, apple picking, wine tasting, and haunted hayride! Thanks to my friend Gene, who graciously offered to bring us out of manhattan and into the magical world of upstate New York!
Oct 27 Camp Sunshine organized its first annual pumpkin fest in Central Park and brought in tons of pumpkins for us city folks. The camp organizes retreat for kids with life-threatening illness and their families. Due to the rain, we did not stay around to carve any pumpkins.
Oct 28 We stopped by papabubbles to check out all the interesting hardcandies. Due to the lightings, my pictures did not do any justice to the adorable candies. Pictures stolen from gothamist.com.

On our way back, we stumbled upon this interesting exhibition on Mulberry st.
HOW TO COOK DOCOMODAKE? This cute little mushroom was born in Japan from an ad for NTT DoCoMo Inc - a cellphone company. Apparently, it rose and became the 5th favorite cartoon in Japan, behind Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse etc. The company is testing the market in the states, starting in NY, to see how receptive the people are. Well, I love mushroom and I sure do love cute stuff, so I was definitely hooked on the exhibitions, including the art display. We got some limited edition items as well as some free mushroom flavored candies (yes, it sounds gross, but there is just a hint of mushroom flavor). I couldn't resist!

| Fall projectSo I picked up this little project yesterday...
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am learning how to knit! A quick stop to the yarn store, 2 hours of reading knitting books at Barnes and 2 You Tube clips, I have successful learned how to make a slip knot, a cast on, knit a stitch and purl. I'm hoping that I can keep this up and make warm cozy scarves for my love ones this winter.. stay tune to my progress. | | |
| 4th of JulyOn June 22, 2007, I became a US citizen. For my first 4th of July, there is only one place I could go for an All American celebration - Coney Island - for an original Nathan's hot dog. We missed the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest, but I did catch a glimpse of the new world champion - Joey Chesnut who polished off 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes. However, I am dissapointed that Kobayashi (four time champion) did not win due to jaw issues, but he managed to finish 63 hotdogs. So we waited in line for maybe 1 hour to get 2 hot dogs, 1 fries, 1 chicken tender and a big fat diet coke. Walked over to the "beach" and pretty much inhaled the food. After that, we walked around the board walk and enjoyed looking at all the old time fun stuff at the arcade. No pictures because the camera died.
For dinner, my personal chef made me... an All American burger. Doesn't that look so good? It tasted even better! We have sauteed onions and mushroom, mozzarella cheese, 98% ground sirloin, lettuce, tomatoes, and most importantly - home made guacamole. It was so delicious. I love it. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate this day!
