Awesome customer service

T-Mobile
I went over my minutes last month and called in to see if I can switch to their myFave 5 family plan (since most of my minutes are used on Diane ).  The lady says if it'll help eliminate the overage fees on the current month, she can back date the plan.  So she asked for five numbers, did some analysis, and concluded I would be well under my limit.  And voila!  No overage charges!!

Sears Auto
Not long ago I drove over a huge pothole near Chinatown and got a flat as a result.  With Diane's help, I managed to change the flat with a spare (she's really knowledgeable on changing tires).  Fortunately, the flat tire was a Sears tire I insured (for $12) and was replaced for $2.17.  Now that's a good deal!

And there you have it, 2 cases of incredible customer service

Personal Refinement

Sorry for not updating, guys, but I've been really busy.  Despite not having a job, or school, or any sort of responsibilities here in Malaysia, I've been rather busy.  I've been working out, getting my parents to work out (and helping them as a personal trainer), playing golf with my dad, learning more Chinese (specifically chengyu's, 4-character proverbs), cooking, and learning how to cook.  Sure, none of these are that important, but it's a chance to better myself physically and mentally, something that I predict will be hard to achieve once I get a job.  For those of you who still have school to go to (sucka ... just playing), or those who have found jobs (congrats!), I envy you.  But honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.  The time I'm spending here has been very productive, and hence the lack of xanga-ing.  It simply doesn't feel productive.  The one person who cares about my day-to-day activities gets the inside scoop anyway, so it feels kinda pointless to post here regularly.
Since I'm already posting though...might as well vent a little.  So my mom and I have been bowling a few times a week, and today I scored 137 and 140.  The second game, however, should've been much higher than a 140.  Unfortunately, my patience was stretched dangerously thin by 3 British teens (maybe college students) having a "good time."  They were loud, obnoxious, and very vulgar.  Okay, some of you are shouting out "hypocrite!" right now, and you're right, I've done crazy stuff too with my friends.  But they were 2 lanes away from us in an otherwise empty bowling alley, and I was with my mom for crying out loud.  I just can't stand for that stuff when I'm with my parents.  But what really bothered me was their utter lack of respect for the alley.  Yeah, fine, be idiots holding the ball to your crotch and pretending to jerk off with it before you face the wrong way and throw it between your legs, but don't hit the metal pin sweeper repeatedly (at least 4 times) and then laugh about it.  Don't be throwing 2 balls at the same time, potentially chipping them.  And don't be touching the TV monitors displaying the score (that thing was wobbling a lot when one of them kept jumping up and pointing at something asking a worker what something meant).  Their nonstop vulgar obscenities, thank God my mom probably didn't catch most of it (like "wanker"), along with their showy displays (often resulting in loud thuds on the lane) completely threw my game off ... it started off a great round, but I kept getting annoyed at them.  And whenever I saw one of them looking at me or my mom, that annoyance escalated to anger.  But it was when we were leaving and they said "bye" to us in a very mocking tone and my mom said "bye" back because "you're supposed to," that's when the anger transcended to fury.  I was fuming when we left and could not stop mouthing off about the way I felt.
Sorry about the lengthy vent, until next time!  Take care, buddies ~

Long time no entry

It has been a very eventful summer, but I will have to hold off on a more detailed entry until a little later.  Why the lack of updates?  Simple: lack of time.  For most of summer I've been trying to maximize time with both Diane and Kevin.  Unfortunately, we only have 2 computers between the 3 of us, and there are activities that Kevin and I enjoy that Diane dislikes, and vice versa.  Trying to do everything that everyone wants to do is quite time consuming; consequently, I have not touched xanga for most of summer (I've even ignored my email subscriptions...over 30 unread xanga subscriptions in my email right now).  Doing a half-assed entry would be pointless and writing a meaningful update would be too time consuming, so instead I decided to spend every waking moment doing something with one or both of them.
This summer has been one of my happiest.  Now that Diane and Kevin have both left Shanghai, I feel really alone :(  It's not so bad when I'm out walking around and playing videogames, but Shanghai is hot so I can't do that all the time.  I could do a picture-heavy update right now, but I'm still fighting off the last bit of food poisoning in my system and busy finding a durable luggage.  Shanghai's not so fun when you're all alone...I wish I had booked an earlier flight to Malaysia...

Short stop in Shanghai

This summer I'll be visiting Shanghai, Taiwan, Beijing, and Malaysia...and maybe even more.  The trip did not go off without a hitch, however.  On top of the last minute packing I had to do (for both the trip and moving out of the apartment), Kevin and I also had to make an additional trip back to his house in Sugar Land a few hours before we had to leave for the airport...after we had just been there several hours earlier.  Why?  He forgot the airplane tickets for our return trip from Shanghai to Taiwan!  I had to take a break from my packing at 2am (just hours before our flight) to take him back home so he can look for the tickets:

He wasn't expecting me to sneak up on him and snap a photo ^_^

After retrieving the tickets, it was pretty much smooth sailing from there.  We arrived in Shanghai and got to our hotel by 8pm, June 9th.  We live on the top floor...and for some reason they don't care about guests walking out onto the rooftop:

Seriously, the windows are huge and there's nothing stopping you from just walking outside!

On top of that, there isn't much preventing you from jumping off!

There's a railing, but...

...it's not very hard to jump or fall down...

...and it's a long way down from the 8th floor!

We found an Ajisen Ramen store nearby (味千拉麵), and I had pork cutlet curry rice:

For lunch the next day, we went to Zoe's and had sandwiches:

Italian salami, mushrooms, roasted eggplants and bell peppers, dijon mustard, all on wholegrain bread = sandwich heaven

That's it for now...gotta go exchange some more money!
