| I'm working on this game for my game design class and I've come up with some general ideas that I've turned in as assignments and a title screen. If theres anyone that even reads this let me know what you think.
ProposalPossible Title: ‘Redskin Rub Out’
Focus: Indian removal is an action/adventure game where the player plays the role of a US general by carrying out orders from the US military by apprehending and killing Indians in an attempt to remove them from their homelands to satisfy the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The player can experience first hand the actions of the US government towards the Indians in the 1800's. Players will feel a mixture of pity and sorrow for what the Indians had to endure and the thrill of the hunt as they round up some Indians. The game is a little controversial, but it will teach the player some US history without them having to read.
Brief Outline of Plans: I’m planning on having a graphically demanding game first of all because I can, but mostly because I want to blatantly display the differences in the various tribes of Indians seen throughout the game such as how they made their shelters, what they wore on their bodies, the way they fought, etc. So it will be a little artistic I guess in depicting these tribes. I also will want to make sure that the characters run very smoothly for example like the characters in Spartan Total Warrior; they had excellent flowing movements and that’s important for immersion I think. I would also like to have a strong AI that would be used in the Indian tribes and the player’s troops. For example the Indians would not just kill you like in other games, but instead, given the opportunity, they would have different results when you fight them like they might capture you and lets say this certain tribe likes to scalp their enemies that they’ve captured so you get the point. Not only would this happen to you, the main character, but you will be able to see it happening to NPC’s on your side and vice versa, you, as well as your soldiers, will have the option to do different things besides just shooting and killing because that’s repetitive and can get boring.
Redskin Rub Out Story/CharacterAn Indian removal game will obviously have some history telling involved. The intro video of the game will consist of the voice of the general, the main character that the player will play as, telling a little back story on the Indian removal via short videos of events that took place during that time such as Indians invading, US soldiers attacking Indians, Indian chiefs signing treaties with America, US soldiers walking Indians off their land to the land that the government decides to dump them on, etc.
I would like to portray the characteristics of the different tribes of Indians or at least the five main tribes: the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and the Seminole. Going a step further, efforts will be made to find out the fighting habits and weapons of choice of the different tribes as well.
The removal of the different tribes will not be separated into sections but the player will receive orders from a higher ranking character at the main fort, for current lack of a name. Then to carry out those orders the player would take somewhere around 15-20 NPC soldiers with him and they would ride on horseback across the game world, similar to that of Shadow of the Colossus, to the destination.
The general will be a stickler to the soldiers under him, but well respected, and just a tad arrogant to his superiors. It will be more of a subtle arrogance though because he’s not stupid. He will have a burning hatred for Indians, not just for the sake of it, but because that was the attitude of most white settlers of that time. If any of his soldiers help an Indian in any way, or even talk in favor of Indians, he will administer harsh consequences to them.
Overall the story will be on track with history but there are some things that will be adjusted to make the game more satirical.

I do not hate Indians, I just wanted to make something original. This game is very satirical, but it not only makes fun of Indians; it exaggerates and mocks the US Government’s actions in eradicating the Indians. I have put a lot of thought into this and I really like how it is turning out. Thanks for looking at it. |
