| | OK, so I went into this Arab restaurant/store and bought some
Zatar. I walked up to the counter and of course there were like 5
Arab men standing around talking. I felt like I was right back in
the Middle East. I put the Zatar on the counter and the guy
said..."hold on, I have to go look up the price." I said "mush
muskley" as he walked off. He stopped in his tracks and turned
around and said "did you just speak in Arabic?" I said, yeah. The
other guys were stunned. One of the guys behind me then asked me
in Arabic if I spoke Arabic and I said yeah, then told them where I had
studied. They were so surprised it was funny! We then
proceeded to have a conversation about where I lived etc. I had two
friends with me and periodically the guy would apologize to my friends
saying..."sorry but she is speaking Arabic with us" it was so
funny!!! I love the shock value. He then gave me a gift of
cheese balls rolled in Zatar, which is a VERY Arab thing to do.
I had a great time, that made my day.
