Rick Hoit was born paralyzed. The doctors gave up on him, but his father would not.
One day, Dick, his father, pushed him while running a marathon. Rick said that it made him feel like he was not paralyzed.
From that day on, Dick and Rick, Team Hoyt, joined as many marathons as possible. They even went as far as to participate in a triathlon. Dick continues to push his son across finishing lines.
Why oh why, does the great Stanford not email me? Why do they not wake
up at wee hours in the American morning to inform desperate children of
their acceptance into EPGY?
Yes I am in Procrastinating mode. Yes I do have an economics test and
yes I do have fiery week in IB homework hell next week + BEIMUN. And I
just found out that I have to be a witness for ICJ at BEIMUN. Curse my
innate want to hear my own voice carrying the great American ideals to
a group of cynical political savvy adolescences.
MUN is one of the things that you semi dread when it comes to a week
before it and your research is so minimal is can scarcely cover a
baby's pinkie toe with it's surface area. And then you go and it is so
mind-blowingly fun and hair-tearingly stressful that it makes you want
to go again. Who cares if you're debating 4 page sentences of useless
silly actions?
I like Economics. I do not like Economics tests. Or rather, having bad
grades on Economics tests because the teacher seems to have some
strange, 567th dimensioned rubric. I refuse to learn about taxes.
No... not because I saw a tonne of Korean movies. What I saw, was korean movie moments, you know those romantic moments that you never see in really life, only in Korean movies. Well actually I saw only 2.5 korean movie moments:
1. At Brilliance, there was this couple outside Decathlon. The girl was like leaning on the wall, and the guy was like covering in front of her. Sadly, they weren't enjoying a romantic moment or anything. We (youth groupians and I) deduced that the girl probably just dumped the guy as the guy was crying and making weird sounds and banging his head on the glass wall. You could hear him bang his head 10m away. It was kinda scary, yet we couldn't take our eyes off it. You normally never see people do this in real life. But right after, the couple went to Chamatea together, so I'm not sure they broke up.
2. On the car home, I saw this girl and a guy standing really close face to face on the side walk. The guy had funky hair. Anyways, they were standing really close and girl was smiling. Suddenly the guy grabbed the girl's face with his two hands and kissed her (okay so maybe when it's typed it doesn't sound as romantic, but trust me it was) like in the movies when the Korean guy takes the girl by surprise and just suddenly kisses her. It was so cute!
0.5. Now, it would have been perfect if I saw a guy carrying a girl on his back. I scrutinized the sidewalk on the way home and....
I didn't see a guy carrying a girl on his back. I did however see a girl riding on the back of a guy's bike, which isn't as cute and is quite common, and thus its a 0.5 korean movie moment. Plus their thick coats stopped the girl from like hugging the guy.
So that was Yuner's korean movie moment day, which was really cute and fun :D Now instead of thinking about chem, I keep thinking about the Korea movie, Wolves' Temptation, I watched yesterday.
Counting down till I return to my sunny sunny Singapore :D
And new layout! Ain't it pretty? I love polka dots, especially pronounced in a British or Aussie accent. Try it, it's incredible... hee hee...
I was just reading Alithia's xanga about super glue and it made me laugh. Her first attempt at being tai tai and she got stuck to super glue :D Well, it's another funny Alithia story we can tell about Alithia.
And Alithia is a math teacher, I almost can't imagine that.
Exams in 2 days!
English on Wed
Math and Psych on Thurs
Econ and Chinese on Friday
Chem on Monday
Keep me in your prayers guys, along with all the other SAS people. I am way envious of those who have Bio instead of chem, their exams ends on Friday. But in a way I'm glad I have a weekend to stuff in all those chemistry facts. Soon I will be FREE and in Singapore! I can't wait to see everyone and stuff :D AND EAT! I'm dreaming of Bak Kut Teh already (especially since Su talked about it on her xanga)
Luv xoxo,
Yun
P.S. If you see the word God being uncapitalized it's because my layout has all little letters and no capitals, so I'm bein disrespectful or anything like that. If anyone knows how to change back to capitalized please tell this poor xangarian loser:D
I feel like crap right now, but I know I felt pretty good back then in Singapore. 13 days and counting till I go back. But anyways, conference was awesome, though I didn't make a lot of friends at all. The acquaintances that I did make were all guys. Which isn't that bad because some of them were oh-so-good looking. Eg. my co-submitter who was voted Hottest delegate. Sorry no pics, didn't know him that well. Argh, he was so annoying when I had to argue with him about demilitarized zones, which I still don't agree with, but had to concede considering that everyone else liked listening to him. Don't blame them. I almost had to contend with him for main-submitter, but in the end, all things turned out good. Ming thinks this Singaporean dude is really cute, especially in his brown polo shirt at the dance. Frankly, I didn't really notice because there were a bunch of other people wearing brown polo shirts. Brown ain't that eye catching. I guess he was okay looking, but I think he kind of looks like a duck (well he called me an apple, so I guess I can call him a duck). Maybe like one of those Mighty duck hockey players from Disney because he's built a lil bulkier. It's really funny because normally I'm the one for Singapore guys, and Ming normally is totally against my choice in guys. I met this British Indian dude (actually Sri Lankan apparently) and ming and I were squealing because he is british indian(sri lankan). Coz I have a thing for British Indian guys. He was kinda cute, but nothing happened. Well basically nothing happened throughout the whole conf social wise. Not even notes wise. It was great officially, with the reso I main subbed passing and me voted best speaker and happiest delegate (I still don't get how I'm THAT obviously happy). I think I did pretty well, considering I had to work with a couple guys who were very persuasive and guy-ey. For a lil short cute girl, I stood up to them pretty well. I hope? More to come if I feel like it...
Luv xoxo,
Yun
Oh yea, and Happy Bday me. Thanks to all who made me feel special today:D
