Bye bye peoples!

Hey look I posted!
Sooo...I'm leaving here on Sunday. I'll be back sometime the end of August, prolly around the 21st. I was signed up to go back to Africa but a few weeks ago Teen Missions asked for a male leader to volunteer to switch to another team because they were really short on guy leaders (every team needs atleast two guy leaders and two girl leaders). So yeah I ended up volunteering for the transfer and was moved to a team going to the other side of the world. I'm now going to spend my summer in the Faroe Islands. Don't feel bad if you have no idea where those are...I didn't either until a little while ago! They're a small group of islands waaay out in the middle of nowhere in the ocean between Iceland and the UK...sort of right up near the arctic circle.  I have between 26 and 30 kids on my team so it will be pretty fun! I'll post my addresses later in case anybody wants to write me letters

Faroe Islands #06013

Dates: June 21 - August 11 - Work/Ev. - England/Iceland

Where in the world are the Faroe Islands? Located just north of the Shetland Islands, WHERE? Okay…north of England is this small nation made up of 18 islands, with a population of approximately 48,000. Be a part of the first Teen Missions team that is going to work alongside Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Faroe Islands, using the evangelism and practical work skills learned at Boot Camp. After Commissioning you bus to the Orlando International Airport to board your flight that takes you along the east coast of the United States and Canada, the Labrador Sea, Greenland and the Atlantic Ocean, before arriving in London, England. From London you fly to Reykjavik, Iceland and bus 12 hours along the south coast passing by numerous waterfalls and Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier, before arriving in Egilsstadir for an overnight stay. From Egilsstadir you continue on to Seydisfjordur where you board a ferry for the 16-hour cruise to Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. A quick transfer to an inter-island ferry takes you to your first project site on the south island of Suduroy, where you help renovate YWAM’s house by painting, repairing fences and re-constructing a sidewalk up a hill. After your time on Suduroy, you return to Torshavn to do open-air evangelism in the city parks and squares during the summer festival held at the end of July. This is a country-wide festival and many of the Faroese who work overseas return home at this time to be with their families. Housing will be in dorms and showers are available; laundry will be done using a bucket. You will have time to hike some of the island’s mountains or along the coast, and to shop for hand-knit Faroese sweaters and scarves, wooden boats and Viking memorabilia. After the project time, you return to Iceland for Debrief. After Debrief you return to London for an overnight stay. While in London you may see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and Westminster Abbey. (Note: Iceland Debrief)
