I'll be back sometime the end of August, prolly around the 21st. I was signed up to go back to Africa but a few weeks ago Teen Missions asked for a male leader to volunteer to switch to another team because they were really short on guy leaders (every team needs atleast two guy leaders and two girl leaders). So yeah I ended up volunteering for the transfer and was moved to a team going to the other side of the world. I'm now going to spend my summer in the Faroe Islands. Don't feel bad if you have no idea where those are...I didn't either until a little while ago! They're a small group of islands waaay out in the middle of nowhere in the ocean between Iceland and the UK...sort of right up near the arctic circle. I have between 26 and 30 kids on my team so it will be pretty fun! I'll post my addresses later in case anybody wants to write me letters

___________________________________

Here is the TMI write-up on my team if anybody wants to read it.
___________________________________

Faroe Islands #06013

Dates: June 21 - August 11 - Work/Ev. - England/Iceland

Where in the world are the Faroe Islands? Located just north of the Shetland Islands, WHERE? Okay…north of England is this small nation made up of 18 islands, with a population of approximately 48,000. Be a part of the first Teen Missions team that is going to work alongside Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Faroe Islands, using the evangelism and practical work skills learned at Boot Camp. After Commissioning you bus to the Orlando International Airport to board your flight that takes you along the east coast of the United States and Canada, the Labrador Sea, Greenland and the Atlantic Ocean, before arriving in London, England. From London you fly to Reykjavik, Iceland and bus 12 hours along the south coast passing by numerous waterfalls and Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier, before arriving in Egilsstadir for an overnight stay. From Egilsstadir you continue on to Seydisfjordur where you board a ferry for the 16-hour cruise to Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. A quick transfer to an inter-island ferry takes you to your first project site on the south island of Suduroy, where you help renovate YWAM’s house by painting, repairing fences and re-constructing a sidewalk up a hill. After your time on Suduroy, you return to Torshavn to do open-air evangelism in the city parks and squares during the summer festival held at the end of July. This is a country-wide festival and many of the Faroese who work overseas return home at this time to be with their families. Housing will be in dorms and showers are available; laundry will be done using a bucket. You will have time to hike some of the island’s mountains or along the coast, and to shop for hand-knit Faroese sweaters and scarves, wooden boats and Viking memorabilia. After the project time, you return to Iceland for Debrief. After Debrief you return to London for an overnight stay. While in London you may see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and Westminster Abbey. It was a rather nice wedding I think (but heck I've only been to one before this so I'm not really an authority on weddings!). I was supposed to be an usher but in reality I didn't do much ushing...I got to do video instead That was pretty fun. It went pretty well for the most part except for the part when the minister says "you may kiss your bride". They did the whole kiss thing really fast and I missed most of it. After the whole thing was over we actually got them to go back up front, reajust the lighting, and do the whole kiss over again...now that was WICKED funny! Jeff even picked Sarah up and did the whole swoop kiss deal hehe. It was all really a blast. I've decided I like weddings. Maybe I should marry someone so that I can eat cake and have people all come give me gifts and money and ohh and ahh... :-p

But meh, who needs sleep? Besides, it has really warmed up here and tonight was like 30ish so there's like two feet of really wet packy snow on the ground. So yeah, instead of going to bed...Heather, Sarah, Esther, Hannah and I went outside around 12am and built a snowman. A really really big snowman. Like an 11 foot tall snowman. We had to use an inclined plane to get his mid-section up there, which was interesting (and awfully heavy too!). He doesn’t have a name (really, who names snowmen??) but we thought he looked pretty cute with his little flowerpot hat and all. It was pretty fun actually…hah, I hadn’t built a snowman in a really long time!
