| I got back from Hong Kong about a month ago but I was too lazy to blog about it until now.
HK$8 = US$1
[Travel Day]
Well
it was around 8 PM when I got to my Grandma's house. We ate dinner
there. Then at around 10:00 PM we left to SFO. We arrived at SFO around
11:00 PM. Our flight was until 1:00 AM so we just walked around for 2
hours. We eventualy got on the plane and began our way to Hong Kong.
[Day 1]
We
arrived at Hong Kong at around 6:00 AM local time. It took us about an
hour to go thourgh backage, customs, imagration, and other stuff. The
airport subways are so fun. They go so fast and we cant be lazy
Americans any more we have to stand up because there are no seats.
After all that we meet up with my dad and my uncle. We got our hotel
papers and we were ready to leave the airport. We took a tram to the
hotel and on the way, I see kids going to school. Like LOTS of kids.
There uniforms are kind of cool though. So we got to the hotel and we
tipped the driver a 20 and put our stuff in our room. My Mom thought
the bag I was carrying was missing and my uncle said that he saw
someone pick it up. So we were panicking about a stupid bag for an
hour. Then when my dad arrived he said he found the bag and we found
out the bag was in our room the whole time. Now im not going to tell
you about my whole trip because i was there for 7 days.
[Highlights]
-
The Malls are HUGE. For example, take oakridge mall. Time the area of
it by 4 and then add 10 floors. Theres not much in the malls though.
Alot of european stuff for like HK$400.
- I saw a guy with no hands and a guy with no legs.
- The subways are so FUN! And there super fast too. Each train is like 1 min apart. Its so fast.
-
Okay. You know here, when you want to cross the street the cars stop
for you and let you cross. And when you j-walk aross the street the
cars stop. Well, in Hong Kong, the cars DO NOT stop for you. If you
cross the street and get hit by a car, then its YOUR fault for being in
the CARS way.
- At the "Ladies Market" (Look at picture above. Alot of fake stuff
there like fake shirts, fake bras, fake underwear, fake Rolex watches,
etc.) We walk around and I end up following this white guy. So when he
goes to a stand. So the white guy picks up an item and the lady
says,"HK$200." and the white guy says,"ill take it." Now when my dad
goes to a stand they ask for only HK$100. XD So then my dad pretends to
loose interest in the item. They lady then says,"HK$50." My dad
continues to loose interest and he eventualy got the price down to
HK$2. Wow. Do you know how cheap that is?
-
Me an my whole family went to a restaurant. Not a fancy restaurant.
Like a noodle house restaurant. They lady asks,"How many people?" and
my dad says,"17." The lady jumps up and ran inside to get us the
tables. The lady kicked someone off of one of the tables to get us a
table XD. Oh yeah, no one wears hair nets because there too expensive.
You won't belive how many hairs I found in my soup.
- My dad took me to a gun shop. Not a real gun shop but a bb gun
shop. But the "bb guns" looked like the gun above. I asked my dad if I
can buy one be he said no. If i got a "bb gun" I would bring it to
school. ^_^ Would you trust me if you saw me holding that?
-
There are 2 types of people in Hong Kong. There are extremely poor
people and extremely rich people. Theres not too many people inbetween.
-
There are 2 types of gangs that are in Hong Kong. You have the drug
lords and you have the software pirates. They are both ran by organized
gangs. You cant find too many pirated stuff in Hong Kong anymore
because the fucking US started cracking down.
- The poor parts
of Hong Kong is alot worse than here. Lots of people pit pocket other
people. Going into the poor parts would almost be like intering Iraq.
-
People in Hong Kong to not care how the city looks. They dont care if
the buildings are ugly. All they care about is that its cheap.
- Everyone either looks Korean or Japanese.
- I can pass as an 18-year-old there. =)
-
No offense but there were alot of Indians in Hong Kong and alot of the
Indian men were gay. So my cusin was walking behind this white guy. And
all these Indian men started handing him papers with there addresses on
it.
- The subways are fun.
