Today is my last day in Spain. Studying in Malaga has been quite the experience, but I am glad to be coming home. This bullfight was the last event I attended here.

There is nothing quite like stumbling upon a bit of ancient Rome in Spain, and then climbing up on it. This is an aqueduct located near the town of Nerja that lies about 50 km to the east of Malaga on the coast. It is still a functioning system that the farmers use to water their crops. Amazing.

Matt Roche and I followed a path that was really more like a tunnel through a bamboo forest down to this secluded beach.

This led me to go for a swim. I found out that it not always a good idea to swim near rocks. We got kind of stuck and I had to hike back to my clothes through rather dense underbrush. I was very happy it was a secluded place.

Tomorrow I leave for Malaga, Spain for 12 weeks to study espanol. I have barely prepared for this trip because of my preoccupation with finals, papers, and other matters. I just had the strange experience of setting a date and time to meet Jeremy at an address in Spain. Hopefully, I will not forget any particularly important items.

This has been quite the year for me at PHC. It has contained the best experiences I have had at PHC. I went on the Faculty Reading Retreat and read St. Augustine's De Magistro with seven incredibly intelligent and personable professors, and spent a weekend at the Northern Neck with my fellow political theory majors (and Hannah -- our honorary) and Dr. Mitchell reading Eliot's Four Quartets. It has also contained the worst. I am looking forward to putting several thousand miles of distance between Purcellville and myself. It should be a great summer...

The brilliant lights have gone out

That beautiful divine spark

That held off the ravening doubt

And dispelled the ever-present dark.
