in LA right now and will be here for the next 2 1/2 months. it's been cool seeing places i remember from when i used to live here back in the day. i almost forgot how nice it is out here. except for the streets of downtown hollywood. i was out there late the other night, and even though they've cleaned it up recently, it's still got that shady feel to it.

i'll be doing a dj set and showing two of my music videos this sunday, march 9, 4:30 pm at an event called THE GLOBAL CAFE. there will be performances by other musicians, and artwork displayed by artists in galleries set up at the venue. more info can be found at: .http://www.voxculturehouston.com/  all proceeds go to charity. so drop by if you can. it's for a good cause and it should be a really nice, chill event.

today i went to a park with my dad. i asked my dad what the name of the park was, but he didn't know. so after we got there, i called it "minority park". this is because there literally was not one white person there. it was all hispanic and black, with my dad and i being the two token asians. haha  it was cool though, because there was this little pond with a bunch of turtles in it. since i was about 5, i've been raising turtles as pets. i've had so many throughout the years from breeding them, buying them, and catching them. in fact, during college, i made a lil extra cash on the side by being a supplier of turtles to various pet shops. so i guess in addition to djing, selling turtles was another one of my side hustles. some people sell drugs? i sell turtles. haha  random fact, huh?  now that i'm out of the turtle trade, i only keep two as pets. i've had both for about 10 years and their names are "stormy" and "egyptian lover". Stormy got her name from her attitude. she's really mean and tries to bite a lot. the other is named Egyptian Lover because his species is called a "hieroglyphic slider", and he always tries to mate with Stormy. the first time i found eggs, i realized that Stormy was actually a female instead of male. haha anyways, the park was pretty cool. it was nice to see so much green and trees. especially after living in brick city t-p-e for the past 6 years.

just recently i was a groomsman at one of my closest friend's wedding. his new wifey is from ohio so the wedding was held there. never been to ohio before, so i didn't know what to expect. from what i saw, at least in the city we were in, it's a pretty laid-back, slow moving place. it was really nice and relaxing. it was kinda weird seeing my friend get married cuz i remember back in the day, we used to bet who would be the last out of our circle of friends to get hitched. he always thought he would be last, while i always thought it would be me. as the years went by, everyone started biting the bullet while the two of us still remained single. well, finally, it was my friend's time to go also. so i won the bet. haha  there were two receptions. one in ohio and one in h-town. the one in h-town was last night, and it was a total blast from the past. there were so many people there that i hadn't seen in ages. everyone was either married, married with kids, expecting, engaged, or dating someone seriously. i think i can count on one hand the number of guys still completely single (including myself). i was sitting at a table completely made up of married couples. haha  it was cool seeing everyone again though. back in college, the groom, myself, and another friend that was also a groomsman used to write and perform funny and corny bi-lingual songs for talent shows at school. so the other groomsman and i thought it would be cool if we suprised the groom by writing a new song and performing it at the reception. the song basically rips into the groom and makes fun of him. writing that song was the first time i've done any writing in a long time. i really enjoyed writing and performing it, and it was great seeing my friend suprised and getting a kick out of it.
