  • ¡¡Feliz Año!!

Well we got off to a great start for the New Year here in Costa Rica. There were literally celebrations all over town. Fireworks going off in  every little neighborhood. It gets a little chaotic. Kids throwing firecrackers into peoples yards (and at cars!). Everyone was either at their homes with their families eating the traditional tamales left over from Christmas or they were out in the streets or at the local bars and restaurants. At the strike of midnight the Quepos oceanfront let off a huge fireworks show with several other shows going on simultaneously all over Manuel Antonio, and in a town as small as our you can hear them all happening.

It was a fun night hanging out with friends from the fellowship. Now the New Year has begun and so far its brought a ton of blessings. Everything seems to be moving forward and things are looking good.

Classes at Escuela D'amore start on Monday. We will be education the local Ticos with English courses to help them make some money working in the tourism industry.

The Ekklesia ministry is flourishing, with tons of vision and a huge spectrum of opportunities ahead its hard to know where to start. We are all set for our missions team to come in May or June. We are almost ready to start with our school in Manuel Antonio, the curriculum will be complete soon. Another project where we are reaching out to help support the local women who are financially challenged is underway - keep your eyes open for something called "the beanbag".

Church is going great. We have the greatest group of people who connect so well and are the most encouraging and supportive group of people ive had the opportunity to serve with in a long time.

What else? Oh yeah! I was kicked out of my house because my rent was more than tripled. But God provided an opportunity to live in another home only a few hundred meters from my old house and its even a little cheaper. So I'm almost completely settled in there.

No other news. Keep in touch!!!

Earthquakes - We have two earthquakes recently. This is actually a good thing. We are supposed to e due a really big one. So all these (relatiively) small one help releive the tension a little. My town is built on a major fault line so they are felt here a lot.

Independance day was yesterday. Its a pretty big day here, the day that Costa Rica became independant from Spain. All the kids go marching through the streets playing drums super loud.

  • Still Going Strong

Man! Things have changed so much in the past months. I sit back and get blown away at all the things that have been going on. Church today was awesome. I cant believe there were over 40 people there. It's grown so much. We all gathered today at a friends finka (farm) for a special pool party. And later when we were all sitting down we were talking about how every single person in this Church is like family. It was definitely encouraging for me to realise what a strong community of believers we have that care so much about each other.

    Other News -

I got a Vehicle!!! YAY. I'm so excited. A few weeks ago I got my Costa Rican drivers license, and now that has been amazingly complimented with a vehicle to go with it! God provided me with a brand new 150cc moped! Its so cool, I can now get around town easily and fast. I can get from where i live and travel up and down the steep Manuel Antonio hill without having to rely on bus services and whatnot. Just the freedom to be where I need to be in a moments notice is great.

God is good. I put some pics of the moped as soon as I can.
