What happened to clapping for professors at the end of the semester? They seemed to have disappeared as I descend further into the hell of Chem E. Hmm.

What's wrong with Zidane?

Zidane has lost it. What caused the classy captain of the French team, which was tipped to win on 10:7 odds against Italy before the match, to headbutt an Italian player in the chest and win himself a red card out of the world cup?

Granted, Italians can be more annoying than the French sometimes. But still, Zidane is an experienced player who must have suffered patiently through his previous matches with Italy. This cannot be the first time he has been insulted or yelled at by an opponent. (Does he have an sudden acute mental illness? Hmm...)

So we'll await the gossip columns to catch up with Zidane's antics and see what's really up in this otherwise superman's head over the next few days. Such an unfortunate exit for the team that seemed to be taking control and weathering fatigue very well, even though I don't really like the French that much myself.

Avoid any Little Italies or Little Frances unless you want to be trampled.

Brought the bed to my apartment today. It was really a workout even with Ben's help. At least I get a big comfy mattress and boxspring to sleep on now and my back won't hurt as much...

Chicago Trips

Here are a few pics of my two trips down to Chicago in the past few weeks. I'm not going to be too descriptive as I'm rather unwell right now, but I may add on more later.

Penguins in the Shedd Aquarium. Seems like the front one is trying to socialize with some fat and sleepy ones.

I must look a bit drunk here with my hat on and everything. This is taken in the hotel lobby, which features a huge bar and a club named "Harddrive", which I thought was really cool.

In front of the Water Tower with Stefanie, my friend from NJC. Thanks for coming on the shopping trip with me. =)

Inside the Water Tower Place, with tons of classy shops. I really like the COB Bigelow apothecary, but the stuff inside are way overpriced.

The weather is so hot, close to how it was like in Singapore. My plants do not look too happy about this.

Want to keep a pet hamster because hamsters are so cute. But how will it survive when I travel (when my plants already die all the time)? =\

Honey Valley Farm sells sunchokes, which I needed for one of my oyster chowder recipes.

My past weekend was very horsey. See image captions for more details.

Went to Midwest Horse Fair at the Alliant Energy Center on Saturday. This is the head trainer from Illinois riding an Andalusian stallion. I want one too.... He has a topline to kill for. *drools*

Same pair, during the show in the HUGE arena area in the Colliseum. Very impressive. They were doing some canter half passes and passage steps. That horse must be worth at least 80k by now.

Four of us on a trail ride out on hilly farmland. It was rather blustery despite the sunny weather. From left: Corinne on Bailey, Sietske on Copper, yours truly on trusty Skippy, and Lucienne on Grande.

Andi, who was our trail leader, had to go around to get shots from all angles. This is a shot of us from the front. I know the picture quality is a bit shaky, but that's because I had my camera on the wrong setting. ><

Group photo of us on the same spot. Copper's head didn't make it in this picture. Later on we went for a trot around a small cross-country course. I would really love to be able to gallop freely on these trails, but I guess caution comes first...

Riding Skippy again in a group lesson on Sunday. My instructor said he wasn't photogenic, but I thought he looked cute in this picture. No pictures of me in action, sorry. But I got my fair share of cantering around.

On a totally unrelated note:

What's wrong with 70% of the males at college age? They are either assholes, childish, stubborn, socially awkward (yet think they aren't) or have some sort of mental illness and are hella adamant about not doing anything about it. I can say this because of my many failed attempts to become platonic friends with them. Their brains just aren't wired right for the rest of the population on earth apparently, until they get out of school. And then all of a sudden they are thrown into the "real world", and thus the weak perish while the rest must learn social norms from scratch again. However some of them manage to live to a ripe old age. Very good example of how evolution theory seems to have failed in their cases.

Anyway, I'm only bitching because I got pissed off at one too many drunk messages from those weird college boys. Americans seems to be more susceptible to this. I'm sure the Brits are far worse, but because I'm in America, I will try to keep my complaints local. I will occasionally also complain about the French however. Sorry.
