  • Sad news

We lost our baby last week.  I was 14 weeks a long and we don't know what happened just yet, and we've been through a lot the last 7 days.  There are a ton of details, but I will write more when I'm in a mood to cry.  We were able to see him and name him.  We named him Adam Joshua.  We will be able to have him cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a garden that a local cemetery has for babies under 1 year.
Know that we are doing OK and we know that God is watching over us and guiding us through this time of grieving.  We are trusting that this will draw us closer to Him and that His name will be glorified because of this tragedy.  He has already given us many opportunities to share what we believe through this.  We ask for your prayers during this time of healing for our family.

"Naked I came from my mother's womb and naked I shall return.  The LORD gives, the LORD has taken away.  Blessed be the name of the LORD."- Job 1:21

  • Hey- cloth diaper mommies!

    I have a question...

I currently have 18 Bum Genius diapers (not sure what model they are, 2.0?)  and we've got baby #2 on the way...

And for Naomi and Blair, your kiddos are the same distance apart as mine will be, so you guys would know better than anyone!

How many CD's do you go through in a day?  I was thinking about buying 6-12 more.  I know we won't go through that many in a day, but sometimes I don't get to them every day.  And I know newborns go through more than kids Jonathan's age.  We do use disposables occasionally- like on Sunday's when I take my day of "rest" from diapers, LOL!

    Thanks!

  • I had to laugh...

I found my little book that the OB gave me when I was pregnant with Jonathan to keep track of my weight and blood pressure and stuff like that.  It had a spot in it to update the information at every check-up and then places to put questions you might have.  Anyway, I was interested in finding it so could compare how much weight I had (or in this case HAD NOT) gained in both pregnancies.  I will be 14 weeks on Sunday, and at that point in my last pregnancy, I had gained 20 pounds (yikes, I know- we had 3 Christmas dinners that year and I was baking, and sampling, up a storm for the holidays!).  This time, I've gained 7, even though I started out almost 10 pounds heavier and lost 6 during the first few weeks, since I was on Weight Watchers and didn't know I was pregnant!  Hopefully I can keep things in check more this time.  I just thought it was funny to find that book.  Oh, and Jonathan's vitamin prescription...which is expired.  Oh well.  At least I got another one the last time we went to the pediatrician.

  • Still asleep!

It's 9 a.m., I just finished a breakfast of a homemade blueberry muffin and soy milk and Jonathan is STILL asleep.  Yes, I did check to see if he was still breathing.  Ya'll know what I'm talking about...

  • Allergy Testing

The allergy testing went a lot better than I expected.  They call it a "scratch test" and that's exactly what it was.  They barely scratched his back with each of the serums and it was all on a grid on his back.  Think the dot game we used to play as kids!  Anyway, they did basic molds, pollens, weeds, trees, some pets, some foods and indoor allergens.  Oddly enough, this kid had NO reaction for dust mites, which is great, because I'm realllly allergic to them.  His worst offenders were grasses, trees, pollens and molds, and here's the worst part...peanuts, tree nuts and eggs!!!  His milk allergy didn't show, but that usually shows better in a blood test, which we will take him to the hospital tomorrow to have that done.  There they will do soy, fish, shellfish, milk, eggs, corn, peanuts, almonds, pecans and some other stuff.  I really liked the pediatric allergist that we were sent to.  They treated us like we were the only patients in there.  They were very thorough in explaining everything to us and let us ask a billion questions.  So right now, he's on the usual Zyrtec, Nasonex, and one other thing, and then he'll start allergy shots in a few weeks.  I know that sounds really drastic to start him on shots so young, but I have really benefited from it and if it lessens the chance or severity of asthma when he's older, I'm all for it.  I have passed on some bad genes to this kid and if we can prevent him from going through what I went through for the first 27 years of my life, then I'm all for it!

Thanks to all of you for your prayers- I was able to maintain my composure and he was a trooper!  We even had a resident coming in and observing and helping out, and while the senior dr. was talking to us, the resident took Jonathan and played with him so we could listen and focus and ask questions.
