How did surgery go?

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008 4:16 pm Back from the ENT According to the catscan my sinuses are just fine!  All the problem is in my nose.  I don't have nasal polyps or anything weird.  So, he's going to correct the slight deviation to my septum, get rid of the swelling inside my nasal passages and try to fix it so my nostrils flare instead of caving in.  Surgery is March 4th. Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 1:35 pm So, um... I'm having that surgery tomorrow. Septoplasty and nasal turbinate reduction. Trying to reduce the chronic nasal obstruction. Saturday, March 8th, 2008 4:42 am Just so everyone knows... I lived. I'm doped up on percocet, so I'm going to spare you my ramblings, but for one, why is it that when you tell someone you've just had surgery and you are on percocet (feel free to substitute darvocet, vicodin, etc) their immediate response is to tell you they are allergic to that? That information is of no relevance to me, lol. Monday, March 10th, 2008

Whining commences... I don't think anyone mentioned how bad this would hurt, esp when I woke up with a migraine AND my face hurting and RLS Boy laying next to me having an apparent seizure... (Speaking of that, I wonder whatever happened to that Caid guy that had a seizure in the camp next to us during the night at Estrella...) Also, how am I supposed to irrigate when I can't get any fluid to go in? And no one told me I'd be wearing a diaper on my nose for a week or more. Also, I think the dr lied and straightened my nose. He said you wouldn't be able to tell anything from the outside. Maybe it's the swelling, but it looks straighter and I can't feel the bump. Well, maybe a little.

***************************************************ANNNNDDDD that brings us to today Wednesday, March 12th, 2008:

My nose hurts less, but is still swollen and nobody can understand a thing I say.  I'm at work and answering the phone is an exercise in tortuous frustration.  I can almost breathe through my nose.  It takes me twice as long to eat because I have to breathe and chew, breathe and chew...  Everything smells WEIRD!!!  I have had almost no sense of smell at all for years, now I'm getting these bizarre whiffs of I don't know what and it's really kind of overwhelming.  I just keep yelling, "What is that smell?!!!?"  And everyone around me ignores me like always.
