Friday night,
Nathan and I went to
Jeff's house (he's my boss) to watch some hockey games. Sometime during the evening, I stated that I had never seen any of the "Lord of the Rings" movies. Both of them sat silent and shocked. Time stood still. Jeff's root beer float got flatter and Nathan's Sonic burger got colder. After time started back up, they encouraged me to watch them. Jeff owned the second and third movie on DVD, but not the first one...strange. I went to Family Video the next day (Saturday) and rented the first one and watched it that afternoon. Then around 1am I started watching the second one. Sunday I slept in until almost 1pm, which was completely awesome. I felt a little burnt out on Lord of the Rings. I mean, it was awesome, but I had watched 6 hours of it the day before. It was 11pm and I wanted to go to bed, but since I had not even been up 12 hours yet, I wasn't sleepy. I decided to just put in the third one and if I feel asleep, so be it. I didn't fall asleep. And Jeff owned the extended version. And it was 3 and a half hours long. But it was marvelous. During the course of the second one I thought, "Why did I not see this in the theater?" I went into work Monday and Jeff asked me if I liked them. I gave him his answer by returning his 2 DVD's by which he responded "You finished all of them?"
Yes. I did. I have watched the trilogy that is "The Lord of the Rings".
And I am complete.
