If it were I, I would freck out! And that's exactly what happened to my factotum, who had worked for me for nearly 30 years. He freaked out. And I don't blame him. Last month, after a diagnosis, he was given an appointment form the Queen Mary Hospital, for, wait for it, the 30th of December 2009! That's right, 2 years and 2 months away. At this rate, his operation will probably come after universal suffrage in HK! What utterly amazes me is that this sort of thing is allowed to happen in HK. Quite apart from the appalling psychological effect that this kind of long wait will have on the patient, especially one with a serious cancer history, which my man has, it seems incredible that a prosperous place like HK could go along with it. What I say, however, is that it is totally, absolutely and indubitably unacceptable that anyone in HK should be asked to wait for so long for an operation. To fix it so far ahead on wonder what the Health Secretary and his department and the Hospital Authority think? Would they regard my outcry as unfair? Would they say that because the lump in question is not malignant, its operation could therefore be put on a waiting list for over 2 years, and that it will have to be carried out a couple of days before the New Year? If they think there is nothing wrong with any of this, let them say so publicly. I am challenging them to say so. And if they do, they will have to admit that if this sort of waiting should apply to any member of their own family or to those close to them, they would themselves find it unnecessary to vent their anxiety. But of course they can't reasonably agree. Nobody would. So it's time that they tell the public and the individual patient that they must do something to rectify and on the situation system. An example like this sends such a bad signal across out healthcare system. It's a joke-and a bad joke.

Sad! The first one was talking about what have happened to the American' s family, who have just lost two younger sons and now only remaining the eldest son. The most sadly is their eldest son was watching the youngest son died in front of him in war. How terrible thing was that. I believe he must be very hurt and shocking to see that. I hope the family from now on living in a peaceful and happy life and may them recover soon.

The second news was the woman just gave birth to a baby a few days ago and suddenly her health was going worst because a doctor found out that her lung is something wrong and need to be changed within in ten days. As the news has been published and then lots of people have been willing to help, however, they were not fit for the women. Finally, yesterday the doctor found a man ,who is a policeman, fits the requirement, but, unfortunately, her condition was in a very critical situation that not suitable for surgery. The policeman felt sad and said." life is so strange, when she was suatible for operation but could not find the right one, but now I came, sadly I can not help her now. If I had come early, she would have been save by now, but I was kept by my job. What can I say !"

The reason why I was deeply impressed because he is a policeman and needs lot of physical strength for working and besides there are not in relative.

Well, talking about HK policeman, I do think they are quite okey, of course, there are not too strong and big, but they are mostly polite, and efficiency . When they are on called to a crime scene or car accident site , they do arrieve in a short time. Ha Ha !!! because HK is a small place. Monotype

Thursday, August 23, 2007

.

I feel sad when I have heard my favorite beautiful movie star, who has become very depressive and need to go to see a psychiatrist because she has found out her husband has someone else. Why? Why all these beautiful and nice women always have the same situation, never can't find some one to cherish and love them deeply. And very strange those pretty women all have the same character which are devotion and loyalty to their men. How I wish I could tell them that they should not put the whole world on one person and thought it is the end of the world. there are still many meaningful things to live. such as going to opera, reading a good book, listening to good music, going out gathering with good friends or to be a social worker to help other people in needed, helping the poor that really can give you happiness and gain confidence. It is because you find that you are a useful person and moreover there are more people are living in a very suffering situation compare to your problem.

So, I hope them be wake up and be strong and live happily.

I am proud to be HK people after SARS,2003

A month ago, I read an article, written by a Taiwanese woman, who moved to HK with her husband, said that she had changed her attitude from deslike staying to like living here and she is proud of us. There are a lot of foreigners who also feel the same way as she does.

I remember that year, March, 2003. We were all in danger of the deathful disease (SARS). However, we still held it tight together without panic or any disorder. Neither doctors nor nurses ran away form their jobs during this life or death situation. They could not go home to see their families for days and had to work long hours without resting. Therefore, some exhausted doctors, nurses and clearing workers finally caught the disease and sacrificed their lives.

During that time, there was a ship carried some patients who might have caught SARS and had been in the sea for days, requesting for help, but none of countries in Asia let them in, At last they came to HK and we were willing give a helping hand to them, thought we faced very difficulty too. We sent the doctors and nurses aboard and brought them to the hospital. Luckily, none of them were carrying the SARS and all have recovered from their sickness. But, we lost 200 people during the SARS attack and some of survivors still suffer from they disease which they can not walk for having fragile bone.

Thank you to doctors, nurses and people who worked in the hospitals. They were so brave and did not escape from the hospitals like other doctors in Taiwan and China. They would sacrifice their lives to save the people. It was because they had been taught to be professional,to face the challenge instead of running away from it, by the former British Goverement. Part one.

To those forgotten fathers....

According to my observation, Father's day dose not receive the same attention as Mother's day in Hong Kong. Does it deserve to be neglected?

Two weeks ago, I watched a documentary on the television. It was talking about men who are working in Security Service Constructor and how they deal with the danger in Iraq. Sometimes, they have to escort importance persons such as businessmen or politicians or the convey carrying goods for American companies. If they are caught, they will be facing death or afraid of decapitation every minute.

There was filming of the escorting service of Security Service Constructor, while they were escorting their client back to the constructor office. They were suddenly being fired at. Luckily, it was not RPG (Pocket Propelled Grenade), and so they were fortunate enough to survive on that trip.

However, some of them were not as fortunate. They were attacked by RPG and their cars were blown high and, later there was a man crawling out from a burning car with fire all over his body. The journalist and other men at once dragged him away from the car in flam. It was very horrified and sad to watch it.

At the end, a constructor in an interview said, although he knew the job is dangerous, yet owing to the need to support his family, he had to accept the job offer. After the interview, he called his family and talked to his little daughter, whose voice was so sweet and lovely. It was a heartbreaking moment.

To me, fathers also contribute great effort to their families, too. So, should we not also appreciate and love our father the way we appreciate and love our mother?

Salute do two brave caretaker

A few days ago, I learned a news from the Daily Apply. It is about two brave caretakers who saved the elderly caretaker from beating up to death in the construction site.

That night, they were all on duty, but, somehow the old man was on patrol by himself, and had gone for a long time. Thus, they went to look for him. When they found him, they saw the old man had been beaten hardly by sever burglars. In order to rescue their colleague, the two caretakers asked the thieves to hit them instead. Yet, the burglars stopped hitting the old man but went on stealing.

How brave they were to raise a request when facing seven thieves and moreover, they were very willing to help others even not of their own races as they might either Pakistani or Palestinian.
