| a great andy warhol quote"What’s great about this country is that America started the tradition
where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the
poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that
the President drinks Coke, Liz Taylor drinks Coke, and just think, you
can drink Coke, too. A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get
you a better Coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All
the Cokes are the same and all the Cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it,
the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it..........." |

| One of the best shows I've seen in a very long time:Last night at the Hi-tone I got to see The Helio Sequence play, a band ally introduced to me not that long ago actually but I instantly really got into their latest album Keep Your Eyes Ahead. I knew it was just two guys but figured they'd have a band to play all the other instruments that were on the record but at the show it wound up just being the two of them. They had the bass, keys, and loops recorded as tracks but it wasn't fake sounding like some people that used tracks. It sounded very live and they were dead on w/ it. The drumming was some of the best live drum stuff i've seen and it was really entertaining to watch. Guitar tones were amazing, vocals perfect. It was just all around great. It was the first time i've been compelled to buy merch from a band in years. I left really excited.
Captain & Company got to play the Hi-tone last sunday night as well w/ the Bulletproof Vests from Memphis and the Black Hollies. It was really fun and really meaningful for me to get to play a show there again. It was always one of my favorite places to play in the whole country and I really felt at home. It is much different for me now playing shows...different instrument, songs i've written, new wonderful people, vocals (what the!?!). But I am having a great time w/ it and hope that we can continue to play shows and have fun doing it. The record will be out in the fall and we've decided to keep it the 6 song collection of what we did w/ Tony back in Jackson and save all the new stuff i've written either for a different project or for future captain and company stuff.
Here's to you...
