  • Tribute of gratitude!!

    Since Independence day is coming up in a few hours I think it might be a good time to be grateful!

    I had an enormously great time when we were in the middle east but one thing that I really missed, {and I didn't realize how much, til I got back home,} was being able to talk about some things that are very important in my life, like God and country, two things that are pretty special to me. You had to take it when people would say derogatory things about your country or president and even though they might not have said anything slanderous about God, at least not to our faces that I heard, it was just understood that very few people shared your faith in God. Now maybe it's the kid coming out in me but the more I shouldn't talk about stuff the more I want to. Pretty bad I know!

    I want you to know that the very first person I sat next to after we go inside the good ole U. S. of A., almost immediately started talking to me about the very things that I couldn't talk about publicly on our trip. It was such an awesome feeling to feel FREE again. So yeah, I'll be the first to agree that this country isn't anywhere near as free as it used to be or as I would love to see it but it's a far cry from any other country. {No offense to my friends from other countries.}

    So call me patriotic or pathetic or any other name you want but I want the world to know that I'm grateful to God, our founding fathers and our armed forces for giving us the freedom we still have!

    LET FREEDOM RING! HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY YA'LL!

  • It is most amazing the things you can get accused of just because you got your pic published in some lousy little magazine like Country Extra. (No disrespect intended!){Which I certainly didn't send in myself but was meant as a very sweet jesture by my dear little niece to honor me.}

    1. I'm advertising hoping to snag a man. {one of the problems with that is that there was no contact info. But hey God could speak to him.}

    2. I'm trying to win a beauty contest. {Not gonna happen in a million years. I'm not that stupid.}

    3. I'm running for election. {Not sure if it's for president of the United States or to get on the local school board}

    Those are the top 3. Ya gotta love living in a small town.

  • Embarrassing Moment

    As a prelude to this moment I have to inform those of you who don't know this,, when we were on our middle eastern trip we did a lot of mountain climbing. Irene has been saying the last few days that she needs a mountain to climb to which I always agreed but seeing as how we live in West Tennessee, mountains are pretty scarce.

    This morning we had a small window cleaning job which we got finished with in short order and were on our way to the next one. As we're driving down this little ole road that had very little traffic on it we noticed this fire tower-like thing on the side of that road that looked very accessible to us. So we decided we had time to climb it. We were barely off the road and in the woods when the first car comes by and I'm like freaking thinking they're gonna stop and then I'm gonna feel like and idiot. They didn't but we had no more than figured out that we couldn't climb the tower cuz the steps were rotten as all get out, when we hear another truck. "OH GEORGE" I shrieked. It was the owner of the house that we had just come from cleaning his windows. Here we were the professional window cleaners sneaking around in the woods immediately after leaving his house.

     So here I was shrinking back into the woods, praying that he'd go on by,, no such luck!!! He stops and as we emerge from the bushes he wanted to know if  we were okay. After we stupidly explained that we were gonna climb the tower and him telling us that we didn't want to climb that tower cuz that was a buzzard roost. {OH JOY!!!! } he left and we,, red faced and tails tucked, slunk away to our next job.

    Oh well after a while the redness does leave your face,,, doesn't it????
